What are some good workout ideas for post 800m time trial?
Uh... the DAY after? probably something easy??
A few days after, just do the style of workout that you'd normally do...
My coach would have us run 4-6x200m w/2:00 give it take rest after a 600m or 800m time trial last season, we wouldn’t worry a lot about time and just focus on running them hard, and they will be hard 10 or so minutes after an 800m.
Is the 800 your main event or is it over/under distance? It might be that that's the effort. If you're a miler/3k runner, then maybe think about tacking on what you think your training is lacking. If you need more strength do 3 x 1k or 2 x mile @ T. If you need more speed do 50-200 range with full rest.
Not sure what phase your in etc but a short tempo or cruise intervals with strides after would work well.
Thanks for the replies. Mostly working on improving speed for my mile. My 800 speed is the limiting factor. I'll do those 200s.
4x30 seconds R4minutes worked for me but I am over 60.
Set the treadmill at:
10 percent grade with a speed of current mile pace+10 seconds per mile.
If this is too easy or hard, adjust the speed but not the grade.
Feels like:
You have to concentrate 100 percent or go flying off the back. The last 10 seconds should feel like you are close to muscle failure. Like getting in one more rep when lifting.
Max neuromuscular concentric stim with low eccentric impact .
Started doing this at 63. Dropped my 800 from 2:40 to 2:28 just before turning 64. Also improved my mile time from 5:46 to 5:38 at 65.I worked up to 10percent grade at 10mph.
Here is a video of me doing one of them:
