I’m not quite sure what the discus event has to do with the Nuttycombe Invitational…
Pics?
BTW I make 400k a year.
I'm really excited to see Habtom Samuel go up against the top guys like Bosley, Robinson, Blanks, Wolfe, etc. Bummer that we won't get to see OK State's newcomers mix it up with those guys.
I'm really hoping that NAU runs a full lineup. If Young can be right up with Bosley, and if Las Heras and Hasty can be around the top 20, NAU will be looking deadly.
If everyone above runs, I expect Bosley, Young, and Robinson to be the three that break away at the end, similar to what we saw last year with Robinson/Young/Hicks kicking close together at the finish. No idea who crosses first on the day.
Just curious, but why would NAU not run a full lineup? They ran their full squad last year. Only OSU seemed cagey about racing all their guys.
The most important and potentially the most exciting anticipatory expectation of this meet is the possible return of Valbymania!!!
Posted this in another thread but forecast right now is possible heavy rain, cold...
Definitely excited to see the new Florida squad debut at full strength... Tuohy reportedly running as well
Last year was Bosley/Young/Hicks but yeah I agree that those three will probably be the strongest.
You are both wrong. last year it was Hicks/Young/Robinson/Liking who broke away late and Robinson was the winner
Sorry, I meant the breakaway at last year's Nuttycombe, not Nationals. But as rbtrackfan pointed out, I forgot that Liking was in there as well.
They've typically run all or most of their top guys at Nutty, so I'm hoping that trend continues this year. I just said I'm hoping they do that again because Young and Las Heras haven't raced yet (though Las Heras indicated on IG that he will this Friday) and Hasty ran the smaller Dave Murray Invite, rather than the Virginia Challenge. Perhaps Smith thought that Young and Las Heras had better chances of peaking later if they started later, or perhaps he wanted to hold out some likely top-7 guys from Virginia so that they could get a better sense of how their ~5 through 9 guys are looking. I don't suspect any of their top guys are injured at this point.
I see, that makes sense. Thanks for clarifying
Bosley
Blanks
Robinson
Wolfe
Kinda want Ky to take the dub
1. Kelvin Kiptum
Came here to mention the same- a well-known, local amateur forecaster is saying rain Wed. thru Sat. Should shake things up a bit!
The rain beforehand probably means as much of the rain during the day as it will really soften the course up. W championship 6K is 3rd race and M championship 8K is 4th race of the day so parts of the course will see the runners 10-12 times and get pretty beat up.

Yeah it's supposed to starting raining Thursday. Rainy, windy, cold. Should make an interesting race.
