She broke a record - did you? Given that she was in the top 20, can't be that bad, where are all those who should be beating her? Your complaint could be valid if you mentioned that this was a very soft masters record - Canada has two women over 40 running 2h23. Mind you Canada also has a guy running faster than all the American men (Levins 2h05).

Also, Genzebe Dibaba didn't set the world on fire with her 2h21 either. Perhaps many went out too fast (Hassan certainly did - she said so).

I’m pleased for Molly. Seemed to all finally come together and she had a good training cycle after some earlier upsets in the year. I also think she performs well when there’s no pressure on her. Everyone talking and about the Sisson/Bates clash and she was barely mentioned.

Em Sisson said she had a stitch from mile 18. She definitely didn’t look her usual strong self in the last few miles.

Surprised Bates was so far back after doing well at Boston and saying she was in American record shape. Since the cameras were never once on her it’s hard to see what happened. Looking forward to her race recap for some insight.

Loved it how the (terrible) commentators thought Rose Harvey was Sara Vaughn. Coverage was terrible. Rose did very well - Olympic qualifier time with Charlotte Purdue for us.

Much better than I expected. I would have thought with a 2:25 she still might be a force at the Trials. Now I'm putting her on my hypothetical US team.

I didn’t say anything about “expecting” a PB today,. I thought sub-2:25, possibly better than her NY time, forward momentum, and a chance for the trials to be good for her. And that she could still be fine if she had run around 2:26. That’s a far cry from “thought she was washed,” which is the statement I I questioned.

Emma Bates has just posted that she went over on her foot at a water station (and she was having a few plantar issues anyway) and was hobbling and had to stop a few times. Which we would have seen had they shown any footage of the American women running - all we got was Em’s last mile or so.

So good to know it wasn’t a fitness issue.

I was a little confused by this when they mentioned it. I thought Sara Hall had the record from her time in Boston at 2:25:48? Or is the Boston course not record eligible?

No Boston isn’t record eligible.

Pleased for Des but I would expect it to fall again quite soon - there’s some strong women in the 40+ age group.

That still isn't "we all". Molly has a sizable fan club here, as well as detractors and doubters.
