I read the article. It was very good. I didn’t realize all of the struggles that she had had. She has a ton of grit and perseverance. I hope she finds her way back and does well on Sunday in Chicago.
Someone posted this already and for some reason the thread was nuked. Good luck
It was nuked because someone voiced their opinion respectfully and didn't agree with Molly and what she was claiming.
Another poster called that poster a dick and it didn't get deleted so that original called him a dick and it went back and forth. Name calling 101. Ban the first person to do it or except the back and forth stuff. I'm not a mod but I read the thread and was pretty sure it wouldn't last.

Being Mod must be a fun job. They must earn a lot as well.
Good job by the writer and by Molly for being open. This is inspiring and will help others. ADHD can be a difficult affliction to live with but how we deal with adversity is the most important aspect.
As I said in the other post, I've only met Molly a few times, but I give her a tremendous amount of respect for being so open and honest. That takes great courage. Too many others run away from reality and the recognition of a problem will not only help them, but potentially hundreds of others. Admitting a problem is step 1 to dealing with the issue. Here's hoping more genuinely follow suit.
Annoying they deleted the previous thread. Too many people talking about her smoking weed.
Yup, it was the weed. Like how can you not say something about that when it's the main gist of the article?
That wasn't the main gist. The main gist was at one time she was the #2 Instacart shopper in Flagstaff. I thought that was pretty cool. She cares and pays attention to a ton of stuff all the time. That's just her way. Loved her candidness about sponsors. Michelob being "watery-ass beer" after they disappeared when she went back to treatment for her eating disorder. "Nike doesn't pay my bills"—covering their logo at the Olympics with her Puma shoes.
The main gist is that in a time of social media overload where every image is curated, and in a field where everything can be judged by hard times, placings and performance, she's very open to people seeing her as a whole person, flaws and all.
I thought the big Letsrun controversy would be doubt that she was actually hit by lightning once. (She was.) But did you see someone is wearing a Letsrun shirt while running in a group with her? Group includes a lot of HOKA pros. Does that mean I can wear mine out in public?

I saw that thread also. I'm not sure that "respectfully" is quite the right adverb here.
True, name calling ensued but the OP was in no way being respectful with the comments about Molly. It was the usual "bagging" on her that happens when threads about her cause some to become unhinged for some reason.
I really like Molly and it’s good she’s so honest and open. She’s a joy to follow on Strava. I’m rooting for her in Chicago.
I would have liked to see a little less mileage this week. She’s been knocking out 130 mile weeks and had a good 8 weeks solid of 115 mile weeks - very impressive but I think a few rest days might have helped her absorb all that training. I know elites taper differently but she’s already run about 65 miles this week before Chigaco. Many elite women do well off 70-80 miles as standard.
I think her and her coach concluded before the Olympics that she could cope with the high mileage. But you also need the rest and recovery. Anyway, I hope the taper is enough and she feels strong tomorrow.

Agree with all of the above, wish her well, and hope she drops a really fast time!
I really like Molly and she has a fascinating story. A flawed, outspoken, charming runner who somehow found her way to the Olympic podium.
She's open and candid about her mental health issues but not in a way that's preachy or oversharing. She takes time to consider how her disclosures will impact the people reading, particularly about ED's. I appreciate that.
I am concerned for her. Reading about the amount of bones she's broken and ligament's she's torn and surgeries she's had at just 29 IS concerning. Plus the mental health battle she's fighting all the way.
When people talk about showing up as their authentic self, Molly and this article is a good example of that. No frills, no hiding, no worrying about judgement. But with a good amount of self awareness to hope that in sharing one's story it could have a positive impact on those reading it.
