Why the rate of single men in the US looking for dates has declined

Or men are lazy and don’t try anymore.

Or maybe the juice isn't worth the squeeze.

With dating apps & social media, women have so many options these days it's not even funny

For example, an average-looking but fit women or overweight woman who is pretty can create a profile on a dating app & within days she'll have dozens - perhaps even hundreds - of guys "liking" her & sending messages to her. And many of these guys are so desperate & thirsty for women, they"ll say or do just about anything to sleep with her.

As a consequence of all the attention & validation a women gets on a dating app or social media, she becomes conceited & picky with the type of guys she'll date.

And if you have an interest in one of these women that are on dating apps & social media, you'll be competing with tons of other guys for her attention & approval!

IMO, dating apps & social media has ruined dating for so many guys. It wasn't like this pre-internet when there wasn't so much competition for available girls in your community.

Why are people looking for “dates?” What is this, Saved By the Bell? You’re only on this planet for a few decades. You should be looking for someone to spend your life with, not trying to get to second base in your parents’ car.

IMHO- I've 64 and for the last 10 years have been divorced. I've dated a few women much younger than I am- one was 28 when I was 59. A couple in their mid to late 30's and one in her 40's.

The younger ones, especially, told me that "men" their age just seem weak and immature. As if they have the emotional maturity of a middle school boy.

The don't understand basic gentlemanly behavior like holding doors, taking off their hat in the presence of a woman, even good grooming and dress.

It's almost as if countless hours of phone time and video games don't actually prepare one to be outgoing, confident, and capable of talking to women.

Lots of ppl are experiencing what is called dating fatigue too. With social media and online dating, people will often times go out on tons and tons of dates to find their perfect match, only to find there really a perfect match, and then dating fatigue sets in and you just get tired of it. I'm in the same boat. I'm divorced and we have a young child and we split custody. I've tried online dating and have had a lot of dates but I guess I'm just exhausted with job, child, etc. most days I just want to go home and relax. And it goes both ways. I agree it is harder to do these days.
