Top US miler over Nuguse and Hocker
I love it.
He didn't get to Budapest and got ROASTED from some persons here for running road miles.
I feel like this is a very beautiful way to end the season for a 20 year old that PRed from 800 - 3000 this year.
Congrats Mr. Kessler!
Absolutely saw him on the podium (TBH maybe not winning in WR time, but up there)
A great day for Hobbs.
Congratulations
You made Ann Arbor, Michigan and the USA proud today!
HAHAHA, HE GOT 2 THINGS IN 2023 THAT JAKOB DIDN'T: A WORLD RECORD AND WORLD GOLD MEDAL IN THE 1,500M / MILE! LOL
When all is said and done Hobbs is going to be the GOAT of road miles.
I saw this on Instagram. 3:56 is a world record? And he beat a Brit I've never heard of, so definitely isn't even the 10th best Brit.
To think Kerr ran 3:47 at 5th Ave and could've done this instead...

Can anyone explain why the women's filed was so strong yet the men's field was so weak? Women's field looked like a freaking global championship and the mens field had no real big names at all.
Look at this womens field!

And Kessler continues to be my favorite American miler. That was awesome! World champ! World record holder!!
It was fun to see him calculate that and pull it off!

Nice run by Hobbs. Hope he can use the strong end to the season like Nuguse did last year.
Well done Hobbs, he is very good, but that Men's mile was underwhelming.
Come to think of it, good point. What are the factors going into this? Was the 5th Ave appearance fee + prize money more than the WR bonus + Gold medal bonus for Road Running Worlds? Or did he just not want to be racing in October?
Even October 1?
Seems more than a bit silly for someone barely ranked in the top 100 (Kessler is currently ranked 88th in the 1500m) to be a world champion. Letsrun blurb makes it clear that his "world record" in the road mile was a joke" but it seems like calling Kessler a "world champion" should also be joke. Great race by Kessler in winning the Riga World Athletics Road Running Campionships, but this is nothing close to the magnitude of Centrowitz winning a gold medal. Yes, go read and call Kessler the winner of the World Athletics Road Running Championahips, but let's not joke and call him a world champion.
Is this a joke? wrote:

Lol. #1 he is the actual world champ. Maybe you can repeat that again? World Champ. It's actually on all the track championship results sites.
#2 the ranking systems are BS, but in any case i bet he's no longer #88 after this. Especially after beating Cheriyoit, Lemi and mphahlele
#3 he's now got what Centro never had and never will. An actual world record!
I guess he had a plan after all. The Shay mile in Charlevoix, MI was the perfect early season prep for this race.
