Jakob comes back 23 hrs after a 3:43.7y and wins in 7:23.6 ??? Beyond incredible. I was against running this double; did not see the point. Glad he was able to pull it off. Now he can rest.
Considering Grant Fisher was second, the winner was probably Morgan McDonald
It was Hunter. I was there. They started a mad sprint with about 250 to go and were neck and neck almost until the end. Everyone was shocked that Drew lost. In hindsight, it makes a little more sense, now.

Fisher lost, not Drew. And yeah, I remember Hunter getting proclaimed as the future of American distance running in that race. Crazy how divergent their careers have been since HS

Better development path: Stanford then Bowerman OR Internet coach then mom?

Ya, Fisher lost that one race his entire HS career from grades 11 through 12 and beat Hunter in every other meeting on the track or XC. Everyone lost to Fisher the guy was dominant.
You are confused. Matthew Maton's career and Fisher's careers are divergent. Fisher is a professional runner while Maton is a logger. Both broke 4 in high school. Hunter and Fisher are 2 of the highest paid professional distance runners in the US. Both compete around the world. The US has 330 million people. Fisher and Hunter couldn't have more similar careers out of those 330 million people.

The only one confused is you. We are talking about how divergent their running careers have been as professionals, literally everyone got this except for you. Fisher is setting American records and running top 10 all time performances, Hunter is getting lapped by Fisher in 5Ks. For two people hailed as the future of American running, this is the definition of divergent.
"Tending to be different or develop in different directions". This doesn't mean you have to be a logger for your professional running careers to diverge you clown
To be fair, Grant won the Brooks PR 2-mile in 2014 as a junior.
No he was a soccer player back then silly
Fisher won the Brooks PR 2-mile in 2014 (look it up).
Yes, Fisher was still playing soccer in 2014.
To set the record straight: Fisher never lost a race his Junior and Senior year until his final race of the season his senior year at Brooks PR 2-mile to Drew Hunter. He beat Drew Hunter multiple times and was most likely tired and ready to move on from high school to college in his one loss at the end of the season.
Their careers couldn't be more similar. Hunter has earned more than Fisher up to this point. Fisher woukd only beat Hunter by 150 meters in a 5k. How many pro distance runners are there in the US? How many are actually making a good living? Hunter and Fisher are top 5. Now tell me again how that is divergent? You remain confused.
