This should be the American record. He is the best hope for an Olympic medal for the USA, 2024 or 2028
Agree that it should be an American Record. What's the hold up? He went to high school, college here and has been living in the US for over 15 years now.
Now for medaling, he would be in the talks but so would Nuguse and Fisher.
While he should be an American citizen, he is not. His range now goes among the elite all-time, with a 3:49.44i (2018)/59:11. That is 32 seconds ahead of the American record in the half. Where did that come from? He had been down for years. I see now that he ran 3:36 in 2014, 13:04 in 2019, 27:23 in 2020, and 1:00:13 in 2022. This is still a major breakthrough even if the course and conditions are much faster in Copenhagen.

Henrik Ingebrigsten ran his first half-marathon, but didn't finish.
