Not a huge surprise but NAU commits Ford Washburn, Zack Munson and defending NXN National Champion Aaron Sahlman are both redshirting their freshman years.
They ran unattached at the George Kyte Classic meaning that they likely won’t represent NAU this season.
Munson was the top finisher for the trio and even almost beat Colin Sahlman.
Depends how they develop and what health/status of upperclassmen is. Smith can wait til conference even to activate if needed.

Obviously. Colin was planning on redshirting last year but then started racing when they needed him.

2 people can BOTH redshirt. 3 people can ALL redshirt.
The obvious non entrant was Nico Young, but there are a few others who can compete for the 6th & 7th spot.
If one person can be they, three can be both.
just because they ran unattached doesnt mean they'll redshirt. Drew Bosley ran unattached at George Kyte his freshman year and ran for them all season.
that said, with a team as deep as NAU I'd be surprised if any of them ran this season. expect to see them in the B races at Nuttycombe and Virginia.

I think transfer Aaron Las Heras (from Wake Forest), if healthy, can push beyond top 6.
their Top 5 are:
1) Young
2) Bosley
3) Las Heras
4) Proser
battling for #5 all year will be Quax/Hasty/Colin Sahlman/Nyouk
unless they get riddled with injury, no sense wasting a year of eligibility for Washburn/Aaron Sahlman/Munson
I’ll be surprised if Aaron is even running by his junior year.

I think they should let him complete, he could have a good season.

No one is redshirting because they run unattached at the first practically nothing of a meet.
Smith will run the top guys when he needs to run them
