It's crazy how much better she is at her sport than he closest competitor (who is totally unknown). She's better at her sport than anyone else is at theirs. I mean this is peak Gretzky, Phelps, Tiger level stuff right here.

Okay. Name one athlete who is better at their sport than she is at hers. Should be super easy, right?
Don Bradman. Outlier of outliers in a sport that is even somewhat popular. What Tiger did was insane when you compare him to his peers. Like 3x the major and 50% more wins AND he basically missed a decade of his prime with injuries. And this is in a popular sport that pays to spend time at. Start seeing 1 million dollar price purses at ultra and the quality of the field would skyrocket.
She is definitely a big fish in the small pond of ultras. That same fish in an ocean doesn't look so big.

Pretty great day for Americans in the UTMB. 1-2 finish in the men's race (Zach Miller pushed Jim nearly the whole way) and another dominating victory for Courtney. As a fan, I'm happy for them all. No need to debate whether this is a tough race, it obviously is. It is somewhat niche and may be only pulling from a smallish group of competitors, but it is really grueling. 100+ miles, 30,000 feet of rocky, high elevation climbing and descending is HARD. Beating the best in the world in the Alps is super impressive. I'd be happy to run within 3 mins/mile of their pace for a single climb and I am fairly serious about my training and competing.

You really think someone who combines agility, speed, strength, and coordination to perform a complex sequence thinks running around an oval once (or 25 times in a row) is a sport? That's exercise. I'm sure you probably knew that though and just wanted to be a dick about some actual success in American running.

Max Verstappen gets beat all the time. That's an awful take. Crouser is the best right now as is Mondo, but they are not better than the second best person by a wider margin. You literally cannot name the next closest competitor to Dewalter.

You could say the same about the 1500 an on. Awful athletes compared to sprinters. No one knows the best distance runners. The world only knows sprinters.
