I notice she's running Zurich, and had been racing prior to Worlds...couple of DL meets plus several other meets. Seems to have toned down her glam a little and she does compete. Sydney has rarely raced partly due to injury but with no plans to race much anyhow before Paris. SCR certainly getting more exposure at the moment.
Carri is not a religious person so no.
The 100/200 runner tends to get more publicity by default. Sydney got a lot of press because we didn't have a star at those distances since at least Bowie in 2016/2017. She has to share the spotlight now with a runner in a more popular event. Even a WR/Gold in 400M hurdles won't get as much attention as just winning gold in the 100M.

To the casual fan yes, however to those who follow more closely between Olympic and Worlds years it seems to me Sydney has taken a dip in popularity while Sha'Carri is gaining fans or at least respect.

I don't think Sydney is that popular. Her GQ 10 things she can't live without only has 390k views. If Sha'Carri made one now it would have over a million in 2 days. Sha'Carri's 100m race has over 3 million views for NBC.

Sha’Carri is definitely more popular. Sydney is the better athlete at her event, but her event is not as popular. Plus she barely ever races.
She had a legitimate shot at 400M gold, and she most likely would have won the 400Mh. Imagine if that was her running down Bol in the Mixed 400M relay.
Sha’Carri wants to be famous. I don’t think Sydney wants to be famous, and that’s okay.

I feel like sha'carri has been the biggest name in the sport since the weed DQ with the trials
Shacarri is a heel to some, a breath of fresh air to others. Put simply, she's better for the sport than SML.
Watch her reaction in the 200 to Shericka's 2nd fastest (maybe first, depending on your thoughts)
Watch her teammates, men included mob her.
Listen to her during interviews.
She has matured without losing the edge. She is becoming an absolute star and capitalizing on the world stage- something that clearly did not matter to SML.
Sid is the better athlete, would have been a three golds for her (no chance they lose the 4x400 w her on the squad). But she didn't show. She folded and is going to lose fans as a result

Sydney's WR race has 3.2M, Olympics 3.1M, Trials 1.8M. Sha'Carri is more popular, but Sydney is one of the only athletes to get 1M+ views consistently on the NBC sports youtube, along with Lyles and Sha'Carri
In her own way, Sha'Carri is a gravitational force on the eyes in track and field. If she's in the race or talking in an interview or celebrating or sulking, you're drawn to her. Like her or hate her, you want to watch.
A few other track athletes are similar, albeit with different sized audiences. Bolt was like that, but with a much larger audience that viewed him more consistently positive. The Norwegian stars are a bit like this, as well.
With Sydney, you want to see what time she's going to run, but her personality and body language don't pull you the same way. She's more of an introvert.

I'm not talking about casual track fans who only tune in to the Olympics every 4 years or slobs in a bar who think pickleball is a demanding sport, nor ESPN which doesn't cover track at all. I'm talking about fans who follow track every day; Indoors, Outdoors, high school, college, pro, DL, even lower class competitons. USTFCCCA, WA, LRC, MileSplit, T&F News...
