I like Nia Akins and I hope she does well in the final. But I don't see Akins fighting it out with Mu for the bronze. Mu is on another level.

Keely is a likeable athlete but not for the reason some posters here favor her. Mora has actually defeated Keely, so why isn't she considered a favorite. Is it because of the color of her skin?

She gets clipped in traffic, because she has an unbelievably long stride and competitors just misjudge the space they have.
I liked her race, she saw she would have to work too hard to get around Moraa and settled into the pack. Obvious in the way she recovered from the stumble and motored thru a high quality field that she is in 1:55-56 shape. She even cruised last 50m for the q.
Will be a great final. Mu, Hodgkinson, Moraa 1-3. Curious to see what Moraa does to disrupt lap 1, or if Mu gets out front cleanly.

You are a moron. Athing was going to win this matter no matter what, barring a catastrophe. So you just need attention again. You told us why she wouldn’t be in Budapest. You told us how she didn’t deserve any more exposure. And here you are jumping on the bandwagon and telling us why she will win, her anger. Give me a break.
Vipam is right so often. I've seen just about every prediction of his come true, certainly any big predictions that I can remember. This time he is wrong though. Mu will not win. I'll be bumping the thread after the women's 8.
Many people will look at that race and say "My god...she almost fell and still qualified, Athing is a lock to win the final". A year ago I would have said the same, as at the time she seemed like a runner that who could win from the front, the back, or boxed in with 200m to go.
Today Mu looked like someone out of sync with her own event. She did not look good in the prelims, and acted as if she didn't know how to run in traffic in the semis. If Athing is going to win, it will have to be from the front in a controlled 1:55. I'm not sure she has that this year, and there are several women who will be right alongside her even is she does lay down a fast first lap. Keely, Moraa, and Nia are not going to defer to her this year.
There is value in running your event more than once a season before the big dance, and the ladies that have will get their chance to dethrone the queen this year.

Athing Mu herself also misjudges the space she has. In today's race Mu cut in front of the South African runner thinking that she could squeeze in there, but Mu was wrong about that and their legs collided.
Mu probably has the longest stride of any female 800 runner in the world. If Mu isn't in first or in last, she is going to have to be very careful not to trip herself or anyone else.
Since it's extremely unlikely that Mu will want to be in last place, that means she needs to be in first place to stay out of trouble. But will Keely, and Moraa, and Nakaayi let Mu into first place? Or will Mu have to run crazy fast the first 200 to grab the lead and potentially use up too much energy? Or will Mu stay mid pack like she did today and hope to not tangle her legs with another runner?
There isn't an easy answer, which means that the race will be fun to watch.
To respond to my critic with the forever changing username, yes you are ABSOLUTELY correct I am back on the Athing Mu bandwagon. The truth is I never should have been upset with her decision as it was finally revealed by Sanya Richards that My said, "she needed a break". The young lady have been had incredibly long seasons (2ys ago collegiate) and running at very high level (last year). Even before then while in high school she was competing at a high level for years. Yes she deserves a break (if she wanted before the Olympics ) but say that and not leave your fans to think otherwise.
The reason I was down on Athing because I feel if she was to concentrate on the 400/800m or the 800/1500m she could enter in the top 10 World all time in either 400 or 1500m event with WR potential in the 800m. So yes I along with many of you displayed selfish motives for wanting her to complete at this Worlds.
Now for this World final it is possible that Athing was injured during that collision. I never seen her walk off the track and decline an interview. If so her adrenaline and being upset could have allowed her to continue but she could have felt something and went to seek advisement from Kersee.
Hopefully she is not injured and runs to her capabilities and current fitness in the final. I honestly hope it's enough for Gold if she isn't injured but if she is injured I at least hope she beats Mora of all people.
Mary Moraa is way better than last year when she beat Keely. The gold goes to her, the rest to fight for the minor medals. Expect 1:55 or 1:54 (if needed to win) in the finals.
