I know this is stupid, but my first thought when I saw the trip was that it was an intentional fall to try and use the trip loophole to get into the final. He saw it was going to be a kicker’s race the final 800, and decided he had a better shot appealing a trip than our kicking his stacked heat.
Given how often we see tripped athletes walked into finals, you’ve got to wonder if it could be a real strategy.

I am not sure why you would think this? There are some very fast runners who are users on this website. Many pro runners have stated how they regularly use this website.
He can appeal if he wants to get his sh!t pushed in during the final. He wasn't even close to the top guys prior to the fall, and he certainly wasn't going to hang with that final push.
