I was thinking the same thing.
Also...why do we need to have people from the previous races sit on couches out in the open. They can see the results in the mixed zone or anywhere else.
Give me that WvN sweat any day of the week
Agreed, the sweat stains are quite gross.
"Happy" Muir very far from the medals.
If you’ve ever been near a call room, or this new q room, you can assume that it’s about as orderly and clean as the gate at an airport.
The q room is a stupid gimmick. Let the athletes go back and cool down rather than sit in this setting in camera.
2 of the 800 runners that made it had to sit there for a good 35-40 mins because they were in the first 2 heats and had to wait til the end of Heat 7. Their legs r probably shot

Yeah he’s okay, but, it’s the but(t) sweat of a hundred other athletes sitting on that thing for hours that would bother most of us.
Hope they antiseptic wipe between sittings. Suspect they don’t.

What is making them sit there? I mean, if you are currently sitting on a "q" and decide to just bypass the room, who is going to stop you? They can't disqualify you because you left. Whether you are sitting there or not, if your "q" holds up, you are going to the next round.
Same. It’s just a cringe made for broadcast idea. Pointless. Why put these athletes in that position? The only one that has milked it was the W100m winner.

I bet you've never had anyone on yours!
I’m guessing it’s one of those ‘vegan leather’ fabrics that’s durable enough it can be cleaned off with a hose if needed. I’ve come across that kind of thing in a few hotels geared toward active people doing active things.
The hot seat idea kind of works in something like a time trial or in downhill skiing where it’s the current leader sitting there to see if their leads holds as other athletes finish the course.
I’m not a fan of turning it into the lucky loser lounge like they’ve done here.

I had sat on it with my period stain and I can still see its silhouette.
Anything that makes athletics more entertaining for the masses can only be good for the sport
you want to smell it?
That Q room is the most stupid idea ever.
WA want to become a circus and treats athletes as clowns.
There's more coverage in the broadcast of that Q room and the car coming from the warm up track than proper throws and jumps. Hilarious!
I know some creeps wouldn’t mind sitting there after the 800 W heats

A circus is the point. The circus is a show. People like a show. Every other sport embraces this. Track fans are worse than old man baseball fan.
