What’s up with Joe Klecker and Kincaid?

No idea if its the reasons, but it must suck for those athletes that they have to prioritize USAs to make sure they even get to go. I can image that if you are not very dominant you just have to prioritize USA's over an eventual worlds.

Galen Rupp spoiled us. We are use to seeing the top 10k American up there making a splash.

Truth is, neither Kincaid or Klecker were prepared for the humidity. They should have gone to Kenya or Ethiopia for heat and altitude. Instead they went to cold Saint Moritz and Flagstaff.

That was about what I expected from Kincaid and McGorty. Not sure what was up with Klecker, he was dropped even before halfway. Maybe injured?

Nah that’s not what I expected at all. Genuinely thought Woody could be a threat in any race. They all really stunk it up. No one in the US can make a dent 5k and up

Time to realize it American distance running (5k, 1ok, steeple) is not as good as you Americans think it is. Yes they can run fast time trials against themselves, yes they can run fast indoors at BU. But when it counts at the Worlds or Olympics they simply are not that good. Maybe run some XC, maybe show up at DL races.

Correct. But its more the weight of Klecker, not so much where he is from.

They look like they just came from a 6 month stint in a war zone. Stupid to tun these 10s in weather like this. Just stupid.

They are Americans and can't compete with the East Africans when it counts that's what's up with them.

I agree that with their resources, Klecker and Kincaid should have gone somewhere hotter and more humid than St. Moritz. That being said, Ethiopia is neither hot nor humid – its high altitude means that the weather is very dry and temperate. Their runners are just so good that they didn't struggle in the humidity in Budapest.

The US is an embarrassment when it comes to distance running. Why would you expect anything else?

Agree, poor performance by US men, compare that to the gutsy running from Mo Ahmed from Canada.

When Woody and Klecker ran their fast indoor 5k and then beat Fisher in the DL, their confidence was raised and seemed to believe their names should be in the same conversation as Fisher.

Fisher’s 10K pr is THIRTY-FIVE seconds faster than theirs and they expect to be able to get top 5 at worlds? I think 9th-12th is just where their fitness is in the 10k.

They’d have a better shot in the worlds 5k, honestly but unfortunately for them, they weren’t good enough to make that team too this year(imo they were worrying about each other until it was too late + fatigue from 10k but that didn’t stop McGorty)

Also - Fishers indoor 5k from 2022, they were on 13:05 pace until a mile to go to run 12:53. Joe and Woody’s this year was on close to 12:55 pace the whole time and was a true time trial. Tell me which way is a championship race typically run and which time is more impressive

Yeah, poor performance in that swampfest for two 150-160 pound guys vs a 130 pouder. Such ignorance.

No idea about Klecker, that was an awful race. Kincaid performed about the same he has at every major champs. Everyone though he'd levelled up after a few good TTs but the real top level racing found him out

Right. A dawdling 28:30-29 pace and ending just under 28 obviously means that Klecker, a near 27 flat runner this year will crack at this hot pace and end up a minute and a half behind Ahmed. Yes. Obviously. There can no other explanation in terms of today.

So what do you think is the reason why Yann Schrub, a 13.11, 27.47 runner, beat all these Americans, who are close to 27 flat? Do you think it could be because Yann is 130 pounds? Hmmm. No way right? Weight could not possibly matter. What do you think will happen in a DL in typical ideal weather in which Kincaid, Klecker are all in? Let me tell you I don;t think Yann is within 15 seconds of them.

You think there is more of a 5 lb difference between Kincaid and Ahmed? What’s Woody’s excuse? He was rolling still, but he could not handle the faster pace?

Worlds is Worlds. It can be hot. It’s in the summer. The best guys hung on and were up there competing for the medals today. Why are we crying about the heat for Joe Klecker who wouldn’t have been better than those guys if it was colder?
