Franco Bragagna (sports commentator for athletics for italian national TV) said during 1500m batteries Yesterday evening that Jakob is skipping the 5000m and he is only racing 1500m.
So Franco Bragagna was right: Jakob is dealing with an injury and he is surely skipping the 5000m in Budapest.
Do you see that you lack any logic? After a user, very likely motivated my your own posts yesterday, writes "If Jakob is injured, could he...", you write "so it is true!". You can't even pretend to be in good faith man. You are the only one who brought all the info we have about this supposed injury. Could Bragagna have insider info and be right? Sure. Could he just be relying on erroneous hearsay? Yes. I would be very happy to get more info about this, for example from today's italian commentary. I am italian but don't live there, so I'm not watching that coverage, but if anyone has clips or links about this issue I'm happy to check those out. Just, I'm sad to see such intellectual dishonesty from this user.
To answer the thread: yes, he could lose the 1500 if he's injured. Also if he's not, but the likelihood grows with the entity of the supposed injury...

I'm not the author of the post. I was answering to that guy asking "if he's injured, Could he...etc etc". Read first, please.
There’s no indication what so ever that Jakob is injured, neither in Norwegian media or social media. Jakob also seemed very happy and positive in interviews yesterday. This is just a stupid rumour, is my guess.
He also looked good in his heat.

What did he say in the interviews?
That it was the perfect start to the championships. Positive impressions.

How is it that this Franco guy is in the know but nobody else is? That would be a big story by distance running standards yet no one else is reporting it.
Letsrun, you need to get to the bottom of this. Sounds strange, with Jakob running smoothly yesterday, but on the other hand it also seems unlikely that a guy like Bragagna should say this without having inside info.
What kind of injury could theoretically allow running 3 rounds of 1500, but prevent 5000? Mild stress reaction?

We don’t even know that Bragagna reported Jakob was injured and scratching the 5k, we just know that this Kiplieri guy claims he did—and I don’t consider him a reliable source. Particularly since it seems like nothing would make him happier than Jakob not medaling in the 5k.
