Not a good start for USA fans . . . Britton Wilson dead last in heat 4 . . . then rolled off the track in a wheelchair . . . shin splint problems never resolved.

So now, no SML, Mu and Wilson in the 4x400 relay . . .

Also, in heat #3, Shaunae Miller-Uibo/Bahamas finished 7th . . . 4 months after giving birth . . .

Paulino looked really good in that final 400m heat, jogging to a sub-50. Probably still the gold medal favourite.

There's no Day 2, it fell over just before the finish line.

The women's 100m will be fire. Sha'Carri making 10.9x look easy. Already with the antics, but maybe it means she's truly got it this time. Shelly, Sherricka, Ta Lou, Alfred all very relaxed and making it look easy peasy.

Tinch looking very shaky. Lack of experience is showing.

The women’s heptathlon is shaping up nicely. Always more fun when it comes down to the 800 to decide the medals. Katarina Johnson-Thompson vs. Anna Hall for gold and Chari Hawkins vs. Noor Vidts for bronze, most likely.
