Not bad for an evening's work
$80k for team win
$100k for WR.
All monies split equally.
That 48.7 last leg split bailed his @ss out after he lost the lead to a Dutch guy.

Are team sports not a thing where you’re from? The backup QB gets the same prize money and ring as the starter who wins the Super Bowl. The starter doesn’t mind because his salary is probably 20 times higher, but the prize money is nevertheless the same.
Ok but to be fair, he took the lead first before losing it. He probably had about the same split as the Dutch guy.
Boling 45.13
Dutch guy 45.29

Ouf…. Indeed 45.13 is pretty slow

I knew he was the great white hope, just not in the bobsled.
Take that cool runnings, white folks are going to start doing the bobsled!
wow is there a link somewhere with the prize money for all the events? did not realize at all that 1st place in a mixed 4x4 gets $80k...jesus there's big money at these world champs. and $100k for a WR holy crap...wow tons of money to be made by these athletes.
Probably the fastest clean sprinter in the world.
Yup. That’s how relays work. If you had run, they wouldn’t have gotten the WR. Bowling did his job.
Why all the hate for Boling?

The first day of competition is over. The adrenaline has died down. People are back to their usual.

The usual envy. I never ran nearly as fast as he did today. He did his job. Good on him.
Hasn’t done any real conditioning work in 4 years so give him a chance to focus on 400 training before you write him off. He’ll get to 44.
Probably have to also split with the semi sub. So slightly less.
Boling in high school: 44.74 split
Boling at World Championships: 45.13 split

Let’s put it in perspective, $20k for the race will likely be the biggest payday for many of these athletes all year. Even if they took that home every month that’s only $240k per year, and they have travel expenses, etc. Of course many have sponsorships as well, but most of the athletes outside the very top tier are not raking it in.
Maybe if he would have spent his college years running the event he actually has potential in rather then dawdling in the 100/200 he could have run sub-45.

Well good for him. I was talking to a buddy about how Boling lost hundreds of thousands of dollars by the fact there was no NIL when he came out of HS. He was a huge deal.
How are they getting that much money? Who's paying millions of dollars to see this?
