all of the above teams have reloaded with top recruits and/or high profile transfers. I still say NC State is the frontrunner but this will be their toughest test yet.

#1 Florida (Powerhouse Valby) surrounded by UNM consistent scorers provides the right formula for a national title. Look for them to add one more piece to the puzzle. This team is scary good. #2 Colorado. Covert, Baran, heren...

Assuming all Division I women runners are healthy (which they won’t be) and eligibility is as we generally understand it to be today, it’s simply a 3-way race between NCSU, Colorado & NAU … then some semblance of UF, BYU, UNC, Notre Dame, Stanford to fill in the Top 8. OkSU, Alabama and Oregon are further back.

I think there is a gap between NC St/CO and FL/NAU/Stanford and then another gap to ND/OkSU/BYU and maybe UVA. I need to see OR actually do something in XC with all the 1500 runners they have. I'd put UNC ahead of them at this point. Again assumes all healthy. AL has 2 but needs 3 more

A lot of Colorado mentions. They will be good but I’m wondering about Natalie Cook given her injury history. I would like to see her do well and I’m hoping that she is able to stay injury free.
NC State had a pretty close one last year. Close for them, at least. They also had the highest point total of any winner since 2016. I’m looking for them to be stronger this season and believe Hartman is going to have a breakout season.
I was looking through old results and hadn’t realized that Roisin Willis‘ mom won back-to-back individual titles in 1990 & 1991 when she ran at Villanova. The Villanova women were such a juggernaut back then, winning 6 titles in a row. That feat probably won’t be repeated any time soon.

For some reason I was thinking that Sonia O’Sullivan was Willis’ mom. I was wrong. Her mom is Breda Dennehy who, like O’Sullivan, also ran for Ireland in the 5000 at the 2000 Olympics.
Yes it is true. Expect a Tuohy who has no extra help any longer. She will provide an excuse similar to what other runners have been providing the past 2 weeks.

Wow....so even though practice has not begun, you have infiltrated the camp and gotten all this intel? All the other runners on the team are also "sluggish" and "mentally burned out"?! 😂

Prediction:
It's the 2023 NCAA XC Championships. Parker Valby, who is the top runner on a Florida team in contention for the title, runs a conservative first 3K. After all, she can't risk going out too hard and blowing up. She has her team to think about. Assuming NC State has it in the bag for a third year straight, Tuohy decides to turn on the burners from the gun, harkening back to her NXN days. She builds an 11 second lead by the halfway point. Looks like no one is going to catch her. Then out of nowhere, Valby starts reeling her in making up seconds on every curve because she is running perfect tangents. By the last 400 you can hear the Jaws music playing in the background...
Naw. Just kidding. Tuohy is not going out on a loss. I see no reason to doubt her now. I predict she repeats individually and NC State is 3X champs. They are just that much better.
