Are any of you sad that Sean Brosnan no longer coaches UCLA?
Yea, a bit sad… as another coach you could see that the house of cards would eventually fall, now they may get a real coach that makes the team a tough competitor later on down the line.
it’s kind of sad. Brosnan seemed to be turning the distance program around in just one year. He got some great recruits and results in a short amount of time. UCLA doesn’t like any attention in those small none revenue sports. Hiring Brosnan brings a lot of attention UCLA didn’t care for. He likes to push the boundaries of everything he does. That can be good and bad

Think of it, we are still talking about UCLA. That is insane. I can’t remember UCLA being mentioned from 2010 to 2020 on Letsrun.
A small, obscure NCAA program with decent academics should pick him up. It would take 3 years for him to build the program. Publicity would be immediate however.

This is exactly what I was thinking. You can love him or hate him, but the truth is he can coach and will get the program attention and fast at the same time.
No one is sad because in America we hate successful people. This guy is a phenomenal coach trying to work hard to bring value to his college, family, and his athletes but yet we will hate on him and act like he is a criminal in the college ranks. It’s unbelievable what he did for high school running and he should be rewarded by coaching a program in the collegiate ranks. We eat our own instead of stepping up our game to be better. Embarrassing
Honestly it would've been good to see him stay because we could've found out how good of a coach he really was. Now we keep on having to ask "what if".

If he weren't a miracle worker, why did all those big-time established NCAA coaches like Vin feel the need to get him fired after one year of bringing in big-time transfers and bringing a 4:01-2 guy down to 3:54?
Miracle workers get praised. Is somebody cures cancer, we praise him. If we find out that he stole the work of someone else, we turn him in. Brosnan was cheating. Should dopers break world records or be banned?
As someone that lives in Southern California I was looking forward to him growing UCLA distance running into a solid powerhouse and stop all the talent having to go out of state.
