NAZ will, or already did, look at Fox. He isn’t as interesting if he can’t deliver Knight as part of his traveling show. What else has the guy achieved since leaving ‘Cuse? Also, would Ana East Coast guy want to live in Flag. We’re talking about a guy that didn’t even want to coach Reebok Boston in Boston.
Has Chris ever coached at altitude? Seems like a prerequisite for a job in Flag, which is significantly higher than Boulder, as Alan Culpepper discovered. Paige Stoner is with NAZ. Would be funny if she left Reebok/Fox and he boomeranged back around to coach her anyway.
Off the top of my head! what did Chris do since Syracuse -
Knight 12:51 - North American Record Hehir 2:08.59 Bennie 2:09.38 Ben Flanagan - Some Big Road Wins Stoner 2:28.43. Under 25 National record Norris --- Who!! 3:59 Amy Eloise - Olympics
Has Chris Ever Coach at Altitude. Yes - himself to 27:53 at an all comers meet back in the 90s. It has been reported by some of Jerry's elite women that he does not adjust times at altitude. Lack of experience at Altitude - Please. Let's take a look at who is still standing for the HOKA Job - Chris is by far the most accomplished Coach in the pool of candidates. How many Coaches have worked with a sub 4:00 female 1500m runner at the same time that they are producing 12:51 and 2:08.59. Let us not forget that these marks came while representing a company that has ultimately proven to not care about the process by which to create such performances. Chris is one of the truly great mentors and leaders in our sport and should be at the bare minimum celebrated for what he HAS accomplished not questioned on what he may not have.
It should also be noted that Fox is still the last coach to win NCAA cross at a sea-level program back in 2015 when they knocked off one of Wetmore's best ever Colorado teams.
This probably matters less, but after 2015 you have to go all the way back to Villanova in 1970 to find another xc champ from the east coast.

Ana East Coast - word on the street is she won't go west of the Appalachians.

Maybe Chris himself doesn’t want to live in Flag, I won’t pretend to know such information about someone I don’t even know. But as for an east coast guy successfully coaching in Flag, have you ever heard of Mike Smith?
Everyone knew that Reebok does not support runners and their future. Does Chris Fox just retire or what now?
Fox has had a great career and is in his mid 60’s. No reason to have to hustle another coaching job. I’m sure he’s more than happy to retire at this point
I could see a Ben Thomas situation where he returns to Syracuse as Director of Track.
His reputation is slightly tarnished because he was unable to accomplish a thing as a pro coach.
What an awful and uninformed post. As the next poster pointed out, Chris pros had A LOT of pro success. The problem is you aren't going to be a world beater if you have a team full of the 2nd and 3rd best runners at Syracuse. NCAA champions are top pros. NCAA all-americans are normally also rans on the world stage, who hope to make an Olympic team. No amount of coaching is going to change that.
Chris unlike Tinman was smart enough to get a long term guaranteed contract that paid him a ton. I hope he gets the Hoka job if he wants it. It seems an odd fit only because he doesn't seem to be like a huge altitude guy and his youngest son is probably a teenager now. Does he want to uproot the family?
I'm assuming the HOKA NAZ elite would make him move since NAZ is in the team name but maybe I shouldn't assume that for the following reasons 1) Alan Culpepper seems to have assumed he didn't have to move 2) Fox coached the Reebok Boston track club in Charlottesville and 3) Tinman elite isn't coached by Tinman.
Longtime Syracuse cross country/track and field coach Chris Fox is returning to the Syracuse staff after five years coaching in the professional ranks.
