Both times are exactly 0.21 seconds better than his current PRs. Getting the 200 WR seems more likely than him running 9.65 imo, but both are huge long shots of course.
Big fan of Noah but not sold on him getting the American 100m record. But since most athletes will be shooting to run 9.7 at Budapest why not shoot bigger? Good for him. Last year he went from running 19.67 at USAs to 28 days later running 19.31 at worlds. This year he ran 19.47 on July 23th and the 200m finals are August 25th which is 34 days. If he lined up things like last year and is faster, a 19.11 could be expected. This kind of logic is faulty but fun to think about.
Predictions like this never go well. Remember when Marion Jones said she would get 5 gold medals in Sydney? I wish Gabby Thomas didn't tell everyone her goal was a gold medal. They often jinx themselves.

If Tebogo wasn't running blind on the outside in that race, he wouldn't have given Lyles as big of a lead through 100m but he still finished way faster than Lyles the last 50m.

I think you have it flipped. More likely he runs 19.10 than 9.65. Last ear he ran 19.31, so that's just a tenth of a second per 100 meters. To get 9.65 he needs a PR of 0.2 seconds over 100 meters. Much less likely.

Logic is incredibly fault as it's not a straight line progression. He doesn't have what it takes to run those times, I do applaud his confidence.
