New Gen is one of those sites that claims to be trying to "grow the sport" (not exactly sure what that is). So is New Gen helping the sport in some weird way or it is simply leaching off it for some social media clout?

Y’all really just want this sport to go extinct, huh

Definitely toxic. Not “good for the sport” by any stretch of the imagination.

Ok then what does New Gen do that is so new, different, innovative that is making the sport more popular?

Weird 30 something year old (Ben Crawford) lives vicariously through high schoolers and young pros. A little odd to me. Don’t think it’s nefarious, but do think it’s just a bit cringey.

It might seem like T&F athletes are robots. Boring, shallow, neurotic, and only concerned with performance. It’s obviously not true. There’s just never been a media organization with the social capital and charisma necessary to get close to athletes and create content with them that’s sincere and in touch with Gen Z’s pop culture interests. Until now.

You're not wrong. I don't know anything about New Gen, or even what it is. But some of my favourite runners are trail runners, even tho I only run on trails a few times a year, because it feels like they have bigger personalities and their stories are more interesting. I'm sure a lot of T&F athletes aren't as boring as they seem, we just don't see much of them other than sterile meet broadcasts.

Citius does it better. Just because 14 year olds want to get their heads shoved in toilets doesn't mean it's helping the sport.

If Matt Wisner doesn’t tell a minor to sexualize his old friend track and field won’t exist anymore apparently
How would this sport exist without creepy men like Ben Crawford taking the purity test with 15 year olds?
Never heard of New Gen so looked it up. One result is this article in Outside Magazine which states outdoor track and field is the most popular high school sport in the United States. Was not aware of that. Explains all the new running shoe companies. Looks like New Gen is tapping into a promising market.
Back when New Gen provided a unique product: insight into the training of the people who truly were going to be America's next top runners (Teare and Hocker) [I'll note this was honestly just luck. The best college runners aren't super special. What Teare and Hocker did in the past two years was really lucky for New Gen. It completely launched everything for them. Trying to replicate that will always be a losing game.] Now that they just follow high schoolers around, I really don't care.
And what's with these camps? They teach the kids how to use social media??? Aren't like half of them just going to major in social media-related studies (Communication and advertising) so they can focus on their college running careers that won't lead to a whole lot?
They just don't report on stuff I care about, or really report at all. What do they do? They're not a real running news source, and they aren't revealing anything about the runners that actually run in the Olympic Trials and US Championships.
Here's what New Gen really is: some peaked-in-high-school Oregon graduates who are too egotistical to go to pro track meets and report on the guys they would have smoked when they were 16 but now can't hang with on their easy days, so instead they go to high school meets and ask children if they'd rather have a thot daughter or gay son. Which is both misogynistic and homophobic, so at least they're efficient!
So many future or current Karen’s on here, finding anything to criticize and complain about. It’s sad that our sport contains a lot of these type of people, wah wah wah. “Oh no they did something, let’s bash them instead of getting over our own insecurities and focusing our attention to something greater, we must bring others down!!”
Ya’ll are the type to call the cops on kids for selling lemonade on the corner without a license. “Yeah they are assaulting me officer, I’m gonna start making things up about sexual assault because I don’t like these people”.

The gay son or thot daughter was at nuttycombe btw. Just makes them seem creepy by saying it was at a high school meet. The rest of your post, pretty understandable about your opinion. To be fair, they aren’t gonna be able to please everyone’s interests.
