I'm glad Caldwell made the team for both 800m and 1500m. Well deserved after last year's clusterfunk.
Also glad to see chicken boi Morgs back in the Aus kit.
Predictably and disappointingly, Ramsden has found himself on another team. I've said it before but Ramsden has already peaked and is a total also-ran. He's a waste of a spot and is only making teams because Nic is his manager. I think it's pretty evident that he's only in the team due to Cam Myers focusing on school.
I've also just realised Pat Tiernan is no longer listed for the marathon. He seems to be doing more instagram influencing than racing these days. He has fallen off a cliff since joining Puma.

And you think Morgan is any better? As you say, waste of a spot and only a space filler. Your bias is sticking out, mate.

Ooh throw another shrimp on the barbie cobber, I can see a message board fist fight over the billabong 🥊

Ramsden still had to be inside the quota, so it's not like he hasn't earned his spot. He was the next in line after Hoare and Myers pulled out.
I don't see why it's disappointing to have a full team in the men's 1500m. Would you prefer them to only send 2?

He's ranked 5th in AUS, didn't win a weak national champs and has been put in more Diamond League meets to get towed to a decent time than just about any athlete. And that's before we even get to what kind of person he is (he does throw a mean sucker punch though...)
I can honestly say I don't know anyone here who is happy to see him on the team.
Interesting lack of OAC Oceania reps named as well.

Ramsden should never be allowed near an Australian team after his scam at World XC.
Mottram is a laughing stock, the biggest budget ever, by far, and he can't even buy a friend, let alone an athlete. We'll give you a tonne of cash to leave your coach, here's your new coach, what a joke. ON marketing team have their heads up their backside, if they think you can behave like this in Australia, and this will somehow help grow the brand. I spit on their brand, and anyone who buys their crappy shoes.
To make this thread a bit more positive, happy to see national champion Riley McGown getting a run. I had the feeling all domestic season he was ready for a 1:45 low, but hasn't quite had that breakthrough yet or the right race. His first European season will have been a good learning experience for him, and first championship should be a similarly good learning experience. Over the next 2-3 years I think he will be a good addition to the team.

sure MTC has many problems but this is ridiculous. As far as I know for events where more than 3 athletes qualified, AA has gone down the line in terms of SB EXCLUDING the women's 1500 where Abbey Caldwell was selected before georgia griffiths (totally correct call) but Georgia griffiths is the athlete represented by Nic.

He's ranked 3rd of those available and he's inside the quota; that's all that needs to be said.
If AA stuck to this policy, I'd be pretty content. I'd much prefer that over them not sending athletes for some subjective reason/s.

Listening to Craig Mottram, it sounds like the purpose of OAC Oceania is to create a pathway between juniors and the professional level rather than to get elite athletes to global champs. There isn't an Aussie equivalent of the NCAA or a thriving circuit for u23 athletes as we have in Europe. Mottram seemed to see his role as preparing athletes to take that next step, to be ready to join pro groups. Maybe it will evolve over time but that's where OAC Oceania is at the moment

Cool story, which of the following are U/23? Buckingham, Skyring, Trippas, Facioni, Kirsopp Cole
'We only care about global track championship medals.'

i thought this was a bit peculiar from mottram, sure it sounds good but australia has no problem converting athletes from junior to professional - the domestic season (melbourne, sydney, brisbane track classics vicmilers clubs, mile championships) is great for midlevel elite competition for younger runners, and elite junior athletes are usually involved with an elite group at this stage anyway.
