saw talk of it in another thread,, could he take on a mediocre program and turn it around?

Please Sean come to Miami!!!!!!
I think he has a big enough ego to think he could turn a program around. Weirdly enough it is a very plausible situation.
Miami (OH) maybe, but Miami, Florida? If he can build a competitive distance running team at a school located below sea level then he's the greatest coach ever.
Sean walking around South Beach with a stop watch on the rebound move telling 4:10 is not that fast is too good to be true.
He’s got a bigggg ego and is the kind to take on a challenge such as that.

Having a big ego is EXACTLY why he can't turn around a program.
Why not? Beautiful place to go to school.
I always wondered why some schools such as the University of Hawaii, for example, didn't have better sports teams. It would be kind of hard to turn down a scholarship especially if they had a great coach come to town.
wow that would be a big step down for a guy who things he is the worlds greatest coach. Just shows you not many people are impressed that you coached a hs team
There's speed to burn on both the boys and girls sides in Miami and south Florida in general, so they should always be able to put together a strong track and field program. Above the 800m things get more difficult. Right now there is a lot more distance talent in Florida than ever before. Valby and Hicks were Florida high school runners, Harrison broke 4 in 2022 and ran 3:38 in a post-season race this year, Patrick Koon ran low 8:40s as a junior this year, and Belen Jesuit has a host of talented runners including a freshman who ran around 9:09 3200m last year. Of course, Hicks and Harrison went elsewhere and UF usually gets a lot of the in-state talent and does little with it, but if he went down there he could get some runners at a high level who have already trained hard enough that they might not have much more to give.
Would be a huge slap in the face to Nico and his whole family to move to the bigoted hellhole that is Florida.
Realistically who do we think their new distance coach will be ?

Miami might be a beautiful place to go to school but it's not a great place to train for XC or distance running.
University of Minnesota!!!
I think he should go to Augustana University in SD and usurp the throne from Tracy Hellman.
The quality of his videos may decline with the mosquitos getting in his shot. UM offers little money for the distance program. Not many trails for training. Heat and humidity year round. If he took this job he would slide into oblivion. This type of job is for a young coach working their way up not somebody who has already deemed himself persona non grata in the NCAA.
I don't see a path forward. No real school will hire him and he won't take a job at a 2nd tier school.
Brosnan was down on the track at the Murphy Classic this past weekend. Since he was in Memphis then maybe he took a quick flight to Miami. Does anyone have real confirmation. I actually saw him in TN. Has he been seen in Miami ?
weird take. Brosnan's ego is way too high to take a d2 job.
As far as I known, Hellman is still solidly in that position. Do you have an inside scoop on something?

Truth is the guy is better suited to be an agent than a coach. He might try that instead.
