Lots of ways to extend eligibility. Medical hardship, redshirt years, Covid years, missions, military service, Olympic redshirt in some sports (doesn’t apply to track I think).

There's something in D2 where if you're not enrolled full time it doesn't count against your eligibility? I think? Somebody correct me.

I want to know how someone leaves in 2015, goes home to Germany, races every single year from 2016-2020, then COMES BACK and has 3 years of eligibility in every sport??

One redshirt year for torn ACL, another for transfer rule, an extra year for covid = 7 years in college b-ball.

How is this possible? Because COLLEGE sports are for COLLEGE STUDENTS, not some imaginary age group that exists in your imagination. College students can be any age.

I didn't go to college full-time until early 30's. Ran 4 years of XC, Indoor and Outdoor Track at D3 school. Earned All American in Cross Country at age 36. Great experience. Made lifelong friends.

D2 does not have a 6 year running clock from first enrollment like D1. All that matters in D2 is competition seasons. Theoretically you could run 3 years, take 10 years off, and then go back for your final year.
