Andy Bayer Signs with ON Running, but why?

I don't know about On in general but they wouldn't sign another American 1500m runner to OAC. They try to deflect direct rivalries when it comes to making international teams.

How can you compare athletes without knowing all the details? I am guessing the Bayer contract isn’t much. Holt and co may be trying to hold out for something better than what’s been offered so far

Bayer will likely make a good run at making it to Paris next year and is more likely than Holt to be an Olympian.

Maybe Bayer sighed for $10K but Hoot demanded $50K.

This. Their stated goal is 1 runner per country in their event in OAC. THe only place they have stretched this a bit is Hurta 800/1500, Andrews 1500/5000, Monson 5000/10000.

Bayer is us steeple, Beamish NZ steeple. ON also sponsors runners not in OAC, with other coaching.

Holt would conflict w/Nuguse.

If you read the article, he was signed to pace Beamish.

This was the only reasoning I could come up with as well, but I don't think Holt should be holding out from any contract

Bayer was Jager’s protege for years. Learned all the training, technique, etc while at BTC and with Dobert.

I might be have missed it (the citius website almost crashed my work computer) but where does it say he was signed to teach/pace beamish?

Andy Bayer is a way more compelling story than Holt. He has a better overall career too. Holt is not nearly as valuable as you think.

My assumption was that the only logical reason for him to be there would be so that Beamish would have a steeple training partner.

There’s plenty of young steeple talent in the NCAA though if they really wanted to go that route. Strange, in my opinion.

Where does his post say he will be training with OAC? It just says he is signing with On Running? He can run for On without being apart of OAC.

Well to be fair, Holt gets a lot of action on social media. He's kind of the people's champ, but not an actual champ. Citius retweets him and posts his results often. He's had a solid year, but his story does not match the comeback story of Andy Bayer. Giving up the sport and making a comeback during an olympic cycle is lightyears ahead in value here.
