Oh shoot I didn't even see her. Great run for her! She ran a good 3k indoors in that race where Tuohy broke the CR right? Where was she at USAs? She was way up on Norris today.
Henes has had ups and downs. Her last few races were:
14:54/4:11/15:04/8:36/15:08/14:47
If anything it shows if you keep pushing you can have a breakthough. She consistently beats Tuohy at 5k right now, but Tuohy is not far off these numbers.

What will be interesting is when Touhy remains with Coach Henes for the rest of her career and Coach Hesse will have to coach an athlete that will need to beat her daughter to make an Olympic team. I am here for that drama.
This thread seems to have been hijacked by the weirdo superfans. Can we get back the main topic at hand? Great run from Henes, just the start of a new level from her.

Is Laurie Henes planning on moving to Northern Arizona, Colorado, of some other high altitude area?
Both her and Josette just can’t figure out how to run Nationals.
The thing about USAs is that only 3 runners can qualify.
So an athlete can place 4th or 5th without having screwed up, tanked or choked. In fact there will always be athletes finishing 4th and 5th, unless of course there are 3 or fewer competitors.

It’s also east for people to forget Elise Cranny’s 5k PR is from indoors at 14:33. Elly is now ahead of her on the outdoor list(14:47 to 14:48) so it’s kinda misleading.
Elise(3:59/14:33/30:14) and Alicia(14:19/30:03) and a healthy Karissa(4:00/14:26/30:18) are a class above of Henes(4:05/14:47/30:48) and are probably gonna smoke her in a championship race every time this year. But maybe next year she’ll make another leap and be in the mix!

So curious to see Cranny versus Monson at worlds... especially after this result by Monson. Cranny is very good at championship racing and has better raw speed.
I could see Henes making a leap to 14:30's by the Olympics. She is just getting started with the 10k as well.
