So I will be changing my coach after this season (most likely mid November). Should I look for a countryman or a foreigner considering approach to training structure etc? I'm 21yo based in central Europe currently doing 30+ mpw and will be building up to 40+, my most recent PBs are 2:12 for 800m (first try) and 10:54 3000m, but these are mostly irrelevant because I'm building up for autumn and gonna drop these times by quite a lot still
Is it worth to pay more to work with a foreign coach/sub elite distance runner who does double threshold and coaches people or should I stick to someone whos local?
Don't hinge your decision on double threshold. >99% of programs don't do it so your pool of potential coaches is going to be insanely small. You're also not at a level where I'd expect a program like that would even be throwing those workouts at you (regardless of if you're a fairly good female or very developing male).
I think you'll have far more success with someone who can actually coach you in person as long as they are a solid coach. If you're going to be trained remote then it shouldn't matter where they are from. Foreign does not equal better.
I didnt pay for these results, I only paid to get a training plan because I dont wanna mess with stuff and guess paces for myself. I've been running for 12-13 months and I'm seeing the big jumps in fitness already compared to last year
Victor Smangs coaches himself and wants to work with people using double threshold plans, I found him on instagram first, but I'm not sure if I'm willing to pay 2.5x per month of what I can pay for a decent countryman
Why would you change a coach if everything works well with the current one? The grass won't become greener, direction is the least important factor of success in running, its best if u can communicate your thoughts and decide your workouts with your coach based on feeling from the previous similar ones

the thing is, that I'm not sure if my coach is competent enough to take me where I want to be in 2-3 years

These are really beginner numbers, and not numbers at your age that hold a lot of promise. Off your mileage, this is the bare minimum I would expect for a mildly talented beginner 15 year old. That said, you never really know where you might go until you try to get there.
Poland, to the best of my knowledge, is full of track clubs, and excellent coaches. Join one. Gradually build up your mileage, and integrate appropriate workouts, under the guidance of a coach that watches you train in person, and in a training group at your level. You may surprise everyone.
I ran up to but never above 30mpw when hitting those PBs, I started building up to 35 this month, thats why I dont think these times hold much importance

I appreciate that perspective. The numbers aren't everything, but they are not worthless in predicting. I could run faster than that as a soccer player at 15 before ever starting track training, and I only got to 1:51 and 3:49, eventually, with really good coaching.
Most, but not all of the 15 year olds that really become great can go faster than that before they start training. The ones that can't when their are beginners at age 14/15, usually are the less physically developed, who will have a growth spurt coming. At 21, it is assumed that you are into adulthood, so those starting numbers tell us something about you, especially the 800.
Still, the best chance for you to find out your real limits, your optimum distance, and to progress is under the watchful eye of an experienced coach, who will see things about you during in person training that nobody on the internet will ever get.
Where I live in Canada, many of our best coaches have been for decades immigrants from Poland, with a pipeline here of such coaches still in existence, almost all of whom were formally trained, in ways we do not see in North America. You have excellent coaching in Poland. Go find the right club for you.
What mainly determins your possible race times is your natural sprint speed together with your cardio vascular ability.Do you know your all out sprint times at 60-100-200-400m ?🧙♂️🇸🇪
Lad I'd coach you for free but to be honest, don't waste your time paying to be coached over the internet. I'm sure you can find a coach in your local area who is very knowledgeable and more importantly, can be there in person when you are doing hard workouts. I think having a coach there, actually watching your workout and can give you real time feedback is very underrated. Finding a local coach would also allow you to find people you can train with. Unless you plan to build your own training group around your online coach then you'll be training alone constantly

idk my 60, my 100m was 12.57 with terrible technique, I ran 27 seconds for 200m in practice and 400m should be 57-58, but I havent ran a time trial at this distance, only 370m in local competition
Thanks for your insight, I was a sedentary gamer for 2-3 years prior to starting running so I think I just needed a little bit of time to get back into it
