is NIL totally fair?

Pretty crazy to see someone transfer out of the Naval Academy. People usually dont go there just to play a sport. I wonder if the military 5 year commitment scared him off or if he was just tired of the lifestyle. Tennessee seems like a big downgrade.

Interesting. I'm not familiar with the Naval Academy, but I had a h.s. XC teammate who graduated from Air Force Academy.

Can you clarify how this has anything to do with NIL?

Seems like a bunch of new recruits for a relatively new coach/program.

With a team that size, I bet theyll have a lot of fun.

It doesn't look like to fun to me, on the women's side (I'm a woman myself) b/c there's too many new women with similar mile times. Like 15 girls within the same range. could you imagine trying to make the team for XC?

I don't know how he got out of his commitment. He may have to pay back the equivalent $100K for the year.

You think these random recruits are getting NIL deals? Tuohy didn’t get an NIL deal until this year.

yea, thats what i thought. If these dudes are NIL money good on em!!! AD must be Ato Bolden or Kara Goucher. NIL is not what folks think it is. Its now a way for a college to pay athletes to play...and their families, even in HS. You just get boosters. car dealers etc...to "sponsor" athletes. The big will get bigger, at least for the big 3 sports.

I don't think it's fair from schools with a large NIL fund to have the advantage.

That is what makes it fun. I had a teammate that has said "It is fun to race opponents, it is more fun to race your friends." A team that deep leads to better work being done because people don't stay comfortable within their spot on the team and keeps the top runners on their toes.

It's not fair that programs have been allowed to rely on uncompensated labor for decades. If the program requires running to be existentially a full time job, then they should expect to pay for it.

Someone was critical of a girl transferring schools; to be fair, she was on her third transfer, lol. But they posted, "pick a school!"

But, I mean, the same can be said for coaches at TN - pick an athlete! Lol. I guess they don't have to choose their athletes this year, they just invited everyone! Kinda lazy, if you're asking me.

In terms of the moneymakers football and basketball- if the NFL and NBA are going to require kids to attend college to be a part of the league then absolutely yes they should be making money in college
