In purely mechanical terms, IF (big if!) all else was equal, most sprinters (being smaller) should have been ahead of Carl Lewis for the first 20-60m of a race. Just as you say, the key is for the bigger individual--or anyone who is behind at, say, 30m--to accept that and execute his/her race--rather than trying to "hurry up." Go fast, but don't hurry!

Super nice. Patient, but fast. Ran her own race, and there it is, 10.6 already. I thought it would take until next year. Looked like great execution, close to perfect for her.

Hopefully she continues the excellence in the upcoming 200, and stays patient especially in the rounds. She could actually medal! (Imo😂)

How far behind was she in this race at the World Championships, anyway? It can be hard to tell because her lane was so far away from the other two. Messes with perspective. But it does seem like she was never as far behind them as it looked from the default camera angle. Her start was competitive this time.

Would it be reasonable to say that she had effectively closed the gap by the 50m mark?

The peace of the outside lane. On the inside, Jackson looked a bit grippy to me, although she ran a fast time.
