Great events and fast times in a beautiful city.
Should we host it again?
The good old times when Edmonton was syringe free, just like letsrun was free of weird posters.
yes, it was good.
A good meet. Greene's performance despite injury, Bloch beating Jones (one got her dosage right and the other didn't) and a few quite random champs!
This thread made the front page. I guess that's because people love Edmonton so much.
But it was a good competition - El Guerrouj won the 1500
Yeah, I was there and it was a fun meet. It was cool to see Marion Jones in her peak (before she was popped) and the weather was perfect. Edmonton is a solid sports town - I once went to an international friendly soccer match (Canada v. Brazil) and 50,000 people showed up. Winters however; would not recommend.
Incredible upset in the 10,000, as Charles Kamathi (did he ever do anything of note again?) beat Haile Gebrselassie, who hadn’t lost a global 10,000 in eons.

I remember great weather and competitions, and plucky Paula Radcliffe acting as the de facto pacemaker with her high aerobic engine only to end up 4th (31:50) with her lack of sprint.
She also posed with an anti drug protest sign, as Russian Olga Yegarova was allowed to compete despite testing positive for EPO earlier in the year. Did that sow the seeds for eventually banning Russia from the Olympics/World Cup?
It's because of Russophobia
Edmonton is a great city. The races were great as well.

Edmonton's parks are nice and clean. No complaints here.
They're beautiful. There's no litter and the views are pristine.
I'd love if the WCs would revisit Edmonton, or one of the Scandinavian or German cities.
