Confirmed that Thomas is leaving Oregon to return to Virginia Tech for the fall and onward. He will coach alongside Eric J. assume more and more responsibility in training as the 23/24 season progresses.
Great hire for VT. Wonder what Cole Hocker does now.
I have it on solid authority that Hocker only stayed with Ben because Ben was written into his contract, unlike Teare. He wants to train with Teare. Teare left Ben because of injuries. Hocker is injured under Ben as well. That would lead me to believe Hocker may be heading to BTC if his contract runs out.

If this is true I hope the outcome from USA championships makes him reconsider.

Do not like Hocker to BTC one bit. I think him and Thomas is a good partnership (yes the injuries are unfortunate), though it wouldn't make sense remotely probably. I'll get flamed for this, but Pete Julian/UAC would be a good fit, as he/Sinclaire seem like similar athletes.

If I’m a US pro I’m doing everything I can to join the On group in Boulder.

If Hocker wants a miler group, Seattle and Andy Powell aren’t far away. With Sam Prakel as an assistant coach.
I was just thinking about this. UVA with Lanana and Dunbar kicking butt. UNC with Miltenberg kicking butt. Wake Forest with Hayes kicking butt. Syracuse has long been strong. NCSt has long been strong. Notre Dame has long been strong (and will continue to be, I think, even after Carlson). FSU has had some great years.
VT has had very good years, but now gets Ben Thomas back. And Louisville, which has had great teams in the past, adds Joe Franklin.
Dang, ACC!

You mean where Cole Hocker was injured and ended up third because he was injured?

Pete Julian is a good fit but not BTC?! Are you joking? Julian has more injured athletes and athletes leaving that BTC. You have to be kidding. Name one bright spot currently running for UAC who competed at the US championships. Sinclaire Johnson literally tripped her way into a world championship berth. Rogers hasn't looked right for 2 solid years.

I don't think UAC is good for Hocker either. Julian seems to get great results from athletes in their first or second year with him, and then they decline, get injured, or leave. Also, who would he train with?
But why do you think BTC would be good for him? He dominated in college and ran 3:31 in the Olympics under Ben Thomas, who (as I understand it) has a bit different training philosophy from Jerry. BTC is primarily a long distance group, not a mid-distance group. You've seen what happened with Teare this year. So, why do you think BTC is right for Hocker?

The ACC is heating up...can't wait to see what they'll do this year!
