Where are those losers who said she only got her NIL deal because she is white? I demand you apologize.
Red white blue yellow purple, whatever...MIA is the REAL DEAL
Those people will never apologize.
She will have a hard time getting much under 11 seconds with that start. Once she gets going, she can really move and just picks off runnners, but at the elite level, shes too far behind to consistently win, in my opinion. Gotta get better at first 20 yards
I wonder if she'll run the 200 considering she had a left shoulder problem. She could probably make the final in the 200 as well since it's looking likeher better event
Also she said in her post-race interview she isn't going pro after high school. I wonder where she goes for college, you'd have to guess Oregon but Texas and Arkansas seem like the best programs for women's sprints right now
It's nearly impossible to speculate about her college plans. One thing- Lake Oswego H.S. is a well regarded school academically so there's a good chance she has very good grades. If so she'll consider schools with both academics and running in mind. UT is one of the better state schools so that is probably in the mix. Stanford is another possibility. Maybe USC.

Such denial. She is getting so much attention cuz she is fast..and white.
Nearly all of us pay special attention to successful white sprinters.
Will the W100 podium at Budapest be all white due to NATO Russiaphobia and Ukrainian Nazi Azovs? Surely there is enough tinfoil in your mom's basement to protect us from this outcome?

There is also a very strong Lake Oswego connection with Shalane Flanagan, but I'd much rather see her land somewhere other than Oregon. Let her spread her wings a bit. Every option will be open to her.

this girl looks like an average woman, definitely not a top sprinter.
what am I missing?
what's her secret?
Not a criticism, actually a compliment, but I agree with this poster. I was amazed when I saw close up video of her, she looks massively undeveloped compared to the top ladies. Of course she's 17 so that's not a surprise. I think she has a ton of upside.
Based on her body type and physical development for her at her current age I'd say her ceiling is limited. I'll be surprised if she progresses much further. Wish her the best, but sooner or later she'll have to face reality.

On the one hand, as you write, she's very developed for her age. On the other hand, she's also very bulky, in a young/nonsculpted way. So I this could go either direction. Maybe she does not get much better because she is already full grown. Or maybe once she discovers adult-style diet and fitness, and sculpts her body, she becomes world class.

She's only 17. She has time to get better at her start.

You a Putin simp, are you? Not a surprise.
Go to the Ukraine war thread and see just how much I simp for Vladulence Putrin.
Has Mia received some sort of special permission to compete at the NACAC U23s this month? She is, according to her IG and other sources. But the official USATF selection procedures say that "No athlete younger than 20 may be entered" (top of page 2 here: ).

Nevermind. From bits and pieces online, I gather that the NACAC changed its age policy just in the last few weeks, but without the online USATF documentation being updated to reflect this change.

Underdeveloped or needs to shed baby fat?
I recall seeing women with this build at meets but they could only run about 12 seconds which is club level in the US but fringe national level in other Western countries.
