Well, like I said earlier only watching the USATF website so could not see how he looked in his semi. Trayvon must have been running hurt. A true warrior but his career may be coming to an end.
It was mentioned on the broadcast that he’s been battling an Achilles issue this year. He’s only 27 (turning 28 in a few days) and he’s shown that he is able to bounce back from injury. No need to write him off at this point.
His Achilles issue started in 2016. His comeback from that is a miracle. But he has been running hurt in major meets after his semis, so it looks like running hard aggravates the injury. In the Tokyo final his form was very upright with his arms moving faster than his legs. He also ran like that in Rio when they had to put him in a wheel chair after the race. Go watch video of his races at Baylor and his first pro year and compare the technique. He has come back from some major injuries (broken hip, fractured knee caps, ruptured achilles.) He has come back from three injuries that would end the careers of any other athlete. Been competing since 5 years old - most age-group champions never make it to the world level. A truly amazing athlete who is tough as nails. Wish him the best and hope he can come back yet again.
Syd looking good. She’s figuring it out and will be the world champion in the 400. Sorry Paulino and Wilson, that’s what’s happening.
Paulino vs her is truly strength on strength. Both are immense in the final 100 IF they pace it correctly. Femke would make it interesting because she might go out hard, but will she focus on the hurdles?
The hurdles will most likely be cleared for the 400.
Usain Bolt in Beijing Usain Bolt II in Berlin Bolt v. Gatlin 2015 Michael Johnson roaring off the turn to 19.32 in Atlanta Jesse Owens in Berlin Carl Lewis Tommie Smith and John Carlos U.S. 1-2-3 sweep in Eugene Men’s 100m last year Just off the top of my head, all of these surpass anything Sha’Carri could do right now unless she goes 10.4 which is way way outside of her range.
The only surprise in the 100’s was Lyles being a bit back—but yes, he was recently sick.
ScR shut it down at 80m, even though she didn’t have a huge lead. Her start wasn’t terrible, but neither is it ever actually good. meh
CC looked to have either died or shut it down at about 92-93m. No way that was a 6.60 60m split. Still amazing to me that most 100m sprinters can’t start properly, he makes them look like fools.
Lyles will be more of a force at WC.
Love Charleston doing his own thing all year. He has travelled well.
Mia is nowhere in the 100 with that start. Also, her form is much better-suited to the 200. I’m not seeing 100m potential, too much needs to be re-juggered. She is young, so I may be wrong.
The difference between her and Shawnti were revealed in the semi. That was what the prelim basic times showed. We’ll see if that 10.89 can be replicated, so far…no.
Bromell has had that issue, just look he applies no power to the track on accel—no dig. Fatal. Once at speed he is better, because forces are lower. He’s jot runnkng to be fast right now, he’s running to preserve himself. He needs re-building
Richardson was doing so well. Running great, clocking fast times, and just winning. I give her credit. And shes a national champion…..but, watching the final, I had a feeling of deja vu
She starts getting closer and closer to the title, and BOOM!….. wig comes off, wins the race, looks like shes ready to murder someone as she crosses the finish line, ignores all competitors after the win, goes into stands, gives embarrassing interview, which she ends by running off towards clubhouse.
Minus the wig incident, it was almost identical to her win a few years back, after which, the wheels started to come off. I know she had a tough start in life, and she deserves credit for taking her talent and being a success with it. But theres no question she has some serious issues going on upstairs. I mean, she is 21 ? years old and is barely able to communicate in a post race interview!
By the way, the more she got jacked up, the worse she ran. She didnt really have a terrible start, but her time wasnt nearly as good and that was the closest race shes had. Is she really mentally prepared to deal with Budapest?
I could be way off, but even though she is the champion, it felt like a regression; or maybe she never really changed and just kept it under wraps?
And now we have the 200 starting up today! What will her energy level be? It will be very interesting to see how she runs in that event.
Pleasantly surprised to see Muhammad run 54.56 in the first round!
After those earlier outdoor performances I wasn't sure she was going to make the team (even with Britton and Sydney out), but I think she can win these Championships.
Hopefully she can run 52s in the final, she hasn't run a 52 since 2021.
Also to those who follow decathlon is there any chance Austin West hits the standard before July 30th and leaves Kyle Garland (who finished 4th) off the team?
There has been an enormous amount of talent come out of the state of MO during the last decade (and more to come) that Mizzou could have one of the best track teams in the country, but they won’t put any effort into it. An absolute joke of a program.
Always love having the blood pressure go through the roof when NBC cuts to commercial during an 8 minute race. Surprised they're not cutting away 60m in to the 100 meters.
Bromell has had that issue, just look he applies no power to the track on accel—no dig. Fatal. Once at speed he is better, because forces are lower. He’s jot runnkng to be fast right now, he’s running to preserve himself. He needs re-building
He is running to be as fast as possible while preserving himself. Yes, he needs major re-building. Paris 2024 is a bad idea not only for someone limping along but for anyone. USATF better have some powerful security for the team next year (if there even is a Games in Paris next year). Traveling to France is a bad idea these days and may be an even worse idea next year. Trayvon should take an entire year off doing nothing but healing, light rehab, getting his diet perfect and having a good time, then come back gradually. His sponsor may not be keen on that idea but at 28 years old he has many years left if he can get 100% healthy. Kim Collins went 9.92 at 41 years old, Justin Gatlin performed great into his 40s. If Trayvon can get to 100% good by 2028, Los Angeles will be a perfect Games for him.
