What can he run or what will he run? A 3:27.9 is roughly a 3:44 mid. In 1500 meters he goes sub 60 pace by 17.1 seconds. Each 100 meters he's running about 13.9 seconds. The extra 9 meters for full mile takes him 1.3 seconds, but the slightly longer race makes it so he runs a slightly slower average pace. So his 1500 meter PR equates to around 3:44 for full mile. I don't think Eugene will be that level of race, I think a realistic over/under is 3:46.75.
You can't run a fast mile there, unless the new Olympics Hayward Field has blocked the infamous wind.
I doubt they would design it that way. They need that wind for a steady supply of fast sprints and long jumps, some of them accidentally legal. The gauges can't measure all the wind everywhere all the time.
No way Jakob is running 3:43/3:44 at the end of season. It’ll be hot and probably windy like it always is. I could see 3:46 to break his own meet record if he feels like pushing it.
Jakob will never break 3:44. This year he appears to be in about 3:45.0 shape though.
I find it odd that people dislike this take. He was a 3:28 and 3:46 mid last year. 3:27.9 likely a bit faster this year. 3:45.00 seems right to me, maybe even a bit generous.

The reason is because when you speak the truth about Jakob, as you and I have done, the fanboys get all up in arms about it. If you don’t speak of him in terms of being the GOAT, they will downvote you.

3:46 is only one race. Like he ran 3:32 in Rabat doesn't mean that's his level. On that day in Oslo, pacing was a bit slow (57.3 2nd lap) and track was wet.
3.27.95 is already worth 3:44.5 and keep in mind that Jakob is better when the distance goes up. Also there are several reasons to believe he is able to run faster than 3.27.95 this year. So saying he will never go under 3.44 in his carreer seems very pessimistic.

You seem awfully optimistic that 3:27.95 is worth 3:44.5 and I do not agree. Who says?

Standard conversion : 1500x1.08=mile
Also, IAAF ratings gives same equivalence. And Jakob, being more a 3-5k guy should be able to do a little better than this average conversion.
Jakob in peak shape is close to 3:44 shape now under good conditions. In Eugene the conditions will probably not be that good, and he will not be in peak shape, so just breaking the ER would be very impressive.
It’s a chance yes, but less than with most others in the field. The 12.48 race is definetly not his ceiling this year, and likely wasn’t in 2021 either. You can bet on aregawhi if you want, i will put my money on Jakob in the 5000m
