What attendance would be good for this USA Champs 2023?

    Last years World Champs and other meets suffered rather poor attendence figures.

    50,000 over 4 days would mean a close to sell-out (regular capacity is about 12,500), but I don't think that those figures will be met after this weekend reading all the complaints about air-fares, hotel and rental car costs in Eugene.

    Also, the regular (old) Hayward field crowd is getting older, so Tracktown USA and USATF in my opinion need to figure out how to attract sufficient people to the stadium to make it look rather full (also to make it look better on TV).

    So what numbers of attendance would be considered good and where will it be regarded as a failure?

    It's already a 3rd rate Hollywood Indie production on ESPN+ and 4th Rate community broadcast RunnerSpaces.

    When you see the gruesome ex-con unshaven volunteers dragging around thick TV camera cables all over the track and infield that means the Indie producers rented the lowest cost, bargain, cheapest Video 55 foot Trailer from NMT National Mobile Television with 30 year old cameras and massive antique lenses and video switching gear.

    Something better than the Cornhole championship.I mean maybe USATAF needs to hire someone outside of track and field to promote the sport. Pickleball has taken off, LaCrosse has a pro league now. Track and field needs to come out of the 80s . It's 2023! Promote the sport!!!!

    Look better on TV? Who is going to carry it other than streaming services and basically a pay-per-view service. When it went off basic cable or even premium cable you lose a whole lot of people. Not the best way to promote the sport to the masses.
