Anyone else excited for the women’s 800 this week? Who are your picks to make the team?

I think Rogers is probably the favorite in my mind. I dont know what happened to her at the NY Grand Prix but the fact that she was in 1:58 shape for the Paris DL in early June was encouraging. Ajee Wilson is a gamer and always shows up for trials so she has to be the 2nd favorite despite having not broken 2 yet this year. I think the last spot i'd lean towards Hurta-Klecker due to Rose's inexperience with rounds and im not sure how comfortable she is running in a pack as she usually tries to front run her NCAA races.

Ajee Wilson had a bad day in New York, and Raevyn Rogers hasn't been running that well recently, but they usually run well when it counts, so I will have to go with them as two of my picks.

I don't think any of the college or high school runners will finish top three. They've already had a long season, and they don't have as much experience at this level as the pros do. Running an 800 surrounded by other runners is something that the top college and high school runners aren't that used to, because they usually run in front.

I think the third spot will go to one of the pros with 2 - 3 years of pro experience, specifically Sage Hurta-Klecker, Nia Akins, or Allie Wilson.

Out of those three, Hurta-Klecker has the best PB and the best SB, so I will go with her as my third pick.

Sound logic. I initially typed in Hurta-Klecker for my third pick, but then deleted it at the last second and went with Rose mainly because I was impressed that she had the confidence to say she was aiming for Mu’s collegiate record. I don’t think we’ve seen Rose’s best yet this year. Nobody pushed her in the NCAA final, and I just have a sense she will step up. But I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s Hurta-Klecker. Hard to argue against 1:57.85.

Giving this thread a gentle bump now that we’re past the holiday weekend. Would love to know what others think!

At this point, I like Akins, Rogers and Hurta-Klecker. It will be interesting to see if Akins looks as stellar as she did in the first round in the semis tonight.

Looks like Hurta has the easier route to the Finals, so I'd have to put her up there. Does Akins have 2 more races in her like the first one yesterday?

Those semis were fire. Wish there was a way to get Allie and Whittaker into the final somehow (someone else mentioned she was bumped by Hurta before she tripped?)

Really happy for Watson getting through - she has stuck with the sport even after her teenage phenom years where many other would have given up and she is obviously in good shape. Also, having Rose in your race is definitely an advantage

Nia continues to impress, she deserves to do well here. She got tripped up by Mu during the last championships
