It's been a long year. Maybe Sadie and the college runners are doing the same thing as Leo and Lex and shutting track season down and prepping for cross country.

I've talked to a lot of NCAA runners about this. Some NCAA runners think you need the time standard. Others think USA's is only for pros. I know one top NCAA runner who finished 3rd in the country at NCAA's and was asked by a reporter if she was going to the USA Championships and she didn't even know it existed.
College coaches in general don't encourage their runners to run at USA's. They want their runners to take a break right after NCAA's, then start training for cross country. Coaches care mainly about college races, not non-college races.

Really not a stupid question at all. Many hs'ers have generated huge pr at trials, plus gained experience for later years. Felix, Syd, Hasay, Roesler, Willis & Whitaker come to mind. As others note Sadie E only a soph and was fatigued at end outdoor. She has big goals for next year - improve to national class in xc and - find the 5 sec she needs to knock out some track records. '24 also bigger with only trials.
I remember sadie giving an interview after nationals saying her season was over. I think it’s a great idea to end her season. Apparently she’s been running track competitively since middle school and owns a lot of age group records. In order to keep her excited for the second half of her high school career it’s best to save post season meet experiences like usatf or u20 for 11th/12th grade

Shea doesn’t run for her high school so her calendar looks different. No April dual meets, no Arcadia, no state meet triples, and only one national level high school race (Brooks PR on 6/14). She also will only be running a select few XC races starting later in the fall than kids representing their high schools.

Good point. I think Sadie's double at the state meet took a lot out of her, especially wirh the prelims the day before. That was her season peak.

It would have been accepted but she probably has a great coach who doesn't want to set her up for failure because she is nowhere close to being competitive. probably go out in the first round.
Add another one to the "she's past peak and needs to recoup" tally. She was showing signs of fatigue with her DNF and the fact that she started gassing out earlier in races. She needs a rest/easy training period and she's taking it with the summer for XC, I suspect

You think that Sadie would go out in the first round? Why would you think that? Sadie has a faster PR than Athing Mu, and a lot more experience running the 1500.
So why do so many people think that Mu is going to make some sort of miracle happen and run some crazy fast time, but Sadie can't even make the final?
Most of us think Mu will also go out in the first round on purpose.
Sadie 4:11 v Mu 4:16. Maybe we can get our LA streamer guy to set up this match race.
Mu has 48 1:55 world/olympic champ experience. Sadie's 4:11 1500m is by far the best of her many 4:3x mile equivalents. The current 'tired' Sadie runs about 4:15, current Mu 4:10. In a race between them Mu sits on her and blows her away over last 200.
I hope Sadie does Olympic trials next summer, coaches may even want to plan on it. Her challenge is that trials has moved way on since days of Hasay and Roesler and 'come to Oregon'. To make the 1500 final you now need to be a 4:05 athlete, or be able to close in 59.
I'm hoping next year she is top 3 at nxn/FL xc and finally runs 4:32 in the mile.
