Watcher her go PBs in the heats too. Slower learner.
Both events have 3 rounds. The only brutal piece is Sat.w/ 400 final followed about half hour later by 400h semi. That 400 final will have to be all out, and the h semi can't be a coast.
I assume priority will be on 400, and they are prepared to accept a hurdle crash and burn.
I’m likely so that she can have a backup option in case she false starts (unlikely, I know) or falls down or is otherwise disqualified from the inital round.
That depends a lot on whether Bol and Sydney choose the 400 or the 400h, and Britton Wilson probably won't know that until after USA's.
Bol is not going to choose 400 flat. She has made that quite clear. She loves the hurdles and the 10 separate variables. She does not feel totally comfortable with pacing or strategy at 400 flat, although obviously she's improved significantly in 2022 and 2023.
Beyond anything, why would Bol devote her entire offseason toward learning how to alternate lead legs and use 14 steps, and then relegate the event that she trained for?

Britton Wilson should be able to qualify in both events.
Her only tough day is the 400 final, followed by the 400h semi 36 minutes later. She's already done that tome schedule before.
Plus, Wilson won't be trying to win the 400, just finish top 3, and she should be able to do that with a 49.9, which isn't that fast for her.
Then in the 400 semi, she should be able to qualify for the final as long as she runs around 55.5 seconds. (Remember that Sydney and Anna Hall aren't running the 400h, so the competition isn't as hard as it could have been.)
So Britton Wilson needs a 400 in 49.9 followed 36 minutes later by a 400h in 55.5 . She already ran faster than that a few weeks ago in the NCAA semis. And I think she can do it again.

Why would Sydney learn how to alternate lead legs and use 14 steps, and be the favorite in any 400h race she enters, and then not run the 400h at Worlds?
Why did Juliette Whittaker skip the 800 at NCAA's?
Why did Athing Mu say her coach entered her in a race and never told her about it?
Why did Sha'Carri Richardson smoke pot and get breast implants?

People are not 100% predictable.
RE1: Femke Bol doesn't have the slightest problem with 400 flat. She ran a 49.44 PB at the Euro Champs last year as part of the first female flat / H double at a major championships, in fact it was triple. (With only one qualifying round in individual events). Her flat mark was faster than SML's achievements this year so far.
RE2: From what Bol has said so far she races over the barriers only (and both relays presumably so a lot of work).
Wow. Did she not learn from his mistake at NCAA nationals? Wow, girl!
No. YOU are the slow learner.
Britton Wilson ran 49.36 and 54.67 30 minutes apart in the NCAA semis. You didn't know that, did you?
And at USA's the closest gap is 36 minutes between races, which is obviously more than 30 minutes in the NCAA semis.
Her problem in the NCAA final was that she went all out in the first race, the 400. But at USA's her goal will be just to finish in the top 3, which requires less energy than winning. Britton Wilson is very capable of finishing top 3 in both events at USA's.

That's wat she needs, but is she going to do it? Look at what she did at NCAA when she needed even slower times. Hopefully she has learned from her mistakes and does not run the early rounds as hard as she has done. I wish her well in being so bold.
It's not a championship so she should be fine, she doesn't need a spectacular time to make the team in either event
I think it makes sense because she doesn't know what Sydney will do. Femke has said she won't double again in the future (although she may change her mind), and is focusing on the hurdles this year. Whereas Sydney could double, or do either the 400 flat/400 hurdles, and then Britton can choose what event to run in Budapest depending on that information

Wilson fan, 2 thoughts. 1) the heat sure didn't help along with the 25 min at NCAA final; unlikely to be humid 94 in Eugene. 2) she's not a great coaster, tends to unnecessarily run hard in early heats. Hope they get this right at usatf - 3rd and 3rd is a big win.
