Just saw the video and was wondering if anyone knows any good 8-11 mile routes in and around the UCLA area. I don't have a car. but can bike a reasonable distance.

Head through the neighborhoods north of San Vicente Rd and run forever up Sullivan Canyon from the trail head. If UCLA doesn't train there, they're dumb.
No!
thanks!!
West Mandeville Canyon Fire road gives you access to dozens of miles of dirt trails across multiple open space preserves and state parks and is leas than 4 mile walk / ride from Campus.
Runyan Canyon is 7 miles aways and while it can get crowded offers access to the hollywood sign and amazing 360 views.
If you have time to take a bus (route 602), I recommend checking out Los Liones Trail (great view from a spur on the Parker Mesa overlook nice day) and you can go up from there for a long way.
Or you can take a bus to Will Rogers State Park and go for a long run up that trail and around that area.
Google Maps will help you figure out the bus line.
If you have the time to take a longer bus ride, you can go to Zuma Beach and run on the sand up Zuma Beach. You can go south and run up into Pt Dume State Park for a short little loop that is really cool. The very south end of Zuma aka Westward Beach aka Free Zuma is where a ton of TV shows and movies are filmed.
westridge canyon is also an excellent trail for a long run...

Looks like the excess rain lead to part of the Zuma Trancas loop becoming overgrown.
You could always go up Zuma Ridge and then go onto the Backbone Trail towards Kanan. The Zuma Ridge is a big fire road. And that section of the Backbone Trail is pretty cool single track for a fun out and back. It is a lot of uphill on the way out with great ocean views coming back down.

What’s it take to drive four miles in LA, like 40 minutes?
Very good trails suggested so far. If you don’t mind asphalt, plenty of routes you can do right from campus. Classic long run for me was just crossing the VA down to San Vicente and taking the greenway down to Ocean Ave (about 12 total). Hillier option from campus is to follow Bellagio road until it branches off then cross Beverly Glen up towards Harvard-Westlake, then you can follow most roads back down to sunset and extend it through Beverly Hills or head back on wilshire or through Holmby park back to campus. Not much traffic in the higher roads and surprising how long you can go before coming to major intersection. Again, these can be done straight from the dorms/apartments but are all asphalt.
