Honestly I love this dude (he sold me shoes at a running store in Iowa City once) but I doubt he’s running any faster than 1:45-low. There’s a reason he hasn’t run faster than 1:45.47 since 2018 and hasn’t PR’d since 2014. Still, it’s admirable that he’s been in the 1:45 range for so long; it shows he approaches his training with a regimented professionalism.
And no he shouldn’t try the 1500. He’s run a few 1500/miles over the years and it’s clear it’s not his event—he’s more of a 600-800 guy.

Nah. Erik can nail the pace and can also make adjustments on the fly as the race develops. The way he glances back over his shoulder when the competitors lag pretty much goads them into getting back up to him. Wavelight will never be able to do that.
