Following up his New Balance Nationals Indoor title, Tinoda Matsatsa wins the 2023 New Balance Nationals Outdoor title in the boys 800m in a personal best of...
Do y’all know what he does during the fall? I checked his Milesplit and he doesn’t do cross country, but he still ran a sub 4 mile
Which is surprising since he’s also run a 9:33 3200m and says he’s a “miler at heart”. Maybe has other academic activities, I didn’t find cross country times but learned that he went to nationals(?) for Chess (which seems to jive with his excellent tactics)
We won't know how all the top guys will develop once they get into college. Success in high school only tells us that there's basic talent there, but so many factors will affect their ceilings. That said I like that Matsatsa starts out with the best 800 speed. Combined with lack of XC and probably lower mileage he seems like he has a lot of upside. Right now everyone is talking about Birnbaum, but who knows, maybe in 3-4 years Matsatsa will be the guy. Stay tuned...

Definitely keeping an eye on this guy, super impressive runs to close the year. Does Georgetown have other top guys/recruits to keep pace with him?

Georgetown has signed an Italian Dcember 2004 athlete who is in the middle of his season and probably going to EU20 Championships. He has run 1:48.5 and 3:52 all alone this year and he probably can dip in the 1:47 range by July. So the answer is yes

Does this guy have the slowest 3200 PR of any high schooler to break 4?

Slowest 3200m and fastest 800m, both good signs for future development
My prediction is that he is THE best 1500m runner in the ncaa in 4-5 years or he will already have a pro contract. With some year round training I think he beats the clown in the sunglasses. And the clown is very good.
