Why is nobody mentioning (not just this thread), that Jakob has clearly been working on his kick, and that he blew Katir away in the last 100m, in a 3:27 race?

Katir was slow in the last 100m. There were a lot of other guys, who finished faster. Take Habz for example.
I agree with the OP. Jakob can run 3:27 with pacers. Can he run it solo though? Because if Jakob can only run 3:29 solo, he will get beat.

Jakob has no more finish than he had 3 years ago, it's only question of endurance and energy left to you in the last 300m. If you look at the face of Katir in the last 300m you notice he was already started grimacing.
You don't need the speed the speed of Carl Lewis you run at the pace of 3:29.

Cheruyiot could solo run 3.29.27. Jakob is better than Cheruyiot has ever been and had more in the tank yesterday. He will be able to solo run 3:28.0-3.28.5 when in peak shape. Can anybody beat that? I doubt it.

Would have said the same thing about Morceli in 92 and a ton of other guys. In an unrabbited race anything can happen. And if he tries to front run a 3:28, we have no clue if he can. If he front runs a 3:29.5, there will be a half dozen people on his shoulder with 100 to go.

Are you blind or are you just not watching his races.
He can outsprint everyone in the last 100m in a 3:28 race or a 3:32 race and everything in between.
