Look guys my point is Ritz wasn't even aware of how to train for 1500 or mile. It was never his event. At least Tiger Woods's coach was probably decent at golf
He's been around running most of his life and was coached by professionals. He even trained with top milers (e.g. Webb). There's no reason to think he doesn't know how to train for the 1500.
Nothing weird. Ted Williams and Tiger Woods had coaches.

Butch Harmon (Tiger's first coach as a pro) was a middling pro and never made the cut at a major. His second coach Hank Haney never played professional golf. His third coach Sean Foley also never played professional golf.
This entire post is idiotic. The vast majority of coaches were not the very best in the event they are coaching. Dathan being a pro runner himself, is more experience than most coaches have

1. Ritz was better at the 1500m/mile than Tiger's coaches were at golf.
2. Why would Ritz be unaware of how to train for the 1500m or mile?

This OP dude talked about 800m block starts lmfao.

It's really not rocket science dude. Seriously, it's not. You've got the talent to do the tough workouts which translates to fast times, or you don't.
There have been a lot of dumb things said on Letsrun but that lack of knowledge about coaching is astounding. He didn’t know how to run under 3:30?! Wow!
An equivalently interesting question (that is to say, not very interesting at all): Jerry Schumacher was a 1500m specialist in his college days. How could he possibly have coached 3+ athletes to break 27 in the 10,000 (including two American record holders)? (Solinsky, Ahmed, Fisher...)
The OP evidently presumes 1500m training is radically different than the training Ritz is more familiar with, but that doesn’t have to be the case, since there are more ways than one to skin-the-cat.
I would presume Ritz still relies heavily upon a strength-based approach, just as the Ingebrigtsens.
