The announcers said there was wind. That kept the first mile in check. I don't know that they could have gotten LV's record, but maybe with almost no wind at least another two seconds faster.
I was actually most impressed by Connor burns today honestly... first time i've seen him really have a strong kick against highschool only competition. I still think he runs a little awkward but seeing him charge pass the other runners and take the fight to simeon birnbaum was very surprising. This is defintely a good bounceback from that disappoinitng FOM mile.

It is true that with advances in footwear, PEDs, training techniques, AI and track surfaces that the 2 mile world record will be 7:34, but it may take another 40 years or so.
So he’s now 4th all time in the mile and 2nd all time for 2 miles. Impressive!
After watching the Brooks PR Boys Mile race, would not be surprised . . . actually expect . . . L&L to work together on Sunday to ensure the NON Boys Mile goes thru 880 yards no slower than 2:00 and 1320 yards in 3:00 . . . trading off 59-60/lap thru 3 laps . . . then hope they have enough left for sub-60 anchors . . .
If it’s not the shoes, and more about the training that’s causing all these high schoolers to run so fast, can someone shed some light on this unique training?

We'd probably have to make ourselves cyborgs to run 3:47/mi for 2 miles. Either that or full-blown PEDs for an athlete's entire career will need to be allowed.
