What colleges would be a good fit for a 9:40/4:30 guy

You woukd have to be a national qualifier and even that may not be enough since your track times are so bad. Doby9u know that Ivies cost $340K?

I don’t think I’ll be able make nationals but, depending on how healthy I stay, I believe I can run 15:20-15:45. Also money isn’t an huge issue for me, and ivies still give a lot of financial aid.

as you have good academics as would try walking onto price town or corn l as I coached there and as I attended there as they both all good schools

Go to the school you like the most or that gives you the best degree. I’m not sure if you’ll be able to walk on, but providing you are, you’ll have solid (better than you) runners are every school.

Focus on your academics. Let that determine your school. We all love running, but there is no financial future in it.

Don’t get caught up on trying to go D1. Lots of D3/NAIA schools might be a great fit for you. Go wherever makes the most sense financially/academically/geographically, and also has a good team/culture.

One of my children is running at an Ivy currently.and another in the ACC. We have one more headed to an Ivy next year. Our child in the ACC got a nice academic scholarship but the two Ivy kids are full price. We only earn $180K but socked a lot of money away. I wasn't happy to discover how much we have to pay, but that is sort of why we saved it. More than 1/2 of the students pay full price. My son ran 4:09 junior year and daughters ran 4:5x.

National qualifier is your only path. Xc times are meaningless. Track times matter. And you sound naive regarding the price. They have quick calculators on their sites.

I was in a similar (although a bit faster) spot when I was a junior so id recommend looking at the top academic/XC D3 colleges: Pomona, MIT, WashU, Williams, CMC/Mudd, Haverford, U Chicago, and maybe Tufts and Colby. You can get very good admission chances with your times/good grades, especially at the latter schools I listed. But you have to act very directly now, a lot of these schools have given potential recruits visits and are narrowing down their recruits. Lmk if you have any other questions.

D3 teams with strong academic and good programs (some might be a bit too fast for you but just a suggested list to work from) - Wash U, Emory, Williams, Haverford

Agree with those saying NESCAC. Similarly, if you want to take a shot at D1, some patriot league schools would probably be happy to have you. I’m not sure if you’d get admissions help but I’m guessing you’d be able to walk on at most if you get in
