Klecker's recent races suggest that he could run significantly faster than 8:12. I'm guessing 8:03-04 for Klecker with Jakob well clear possibly under 8:00.
No they don't because he doesn't have the legspeed/footspeed. He only ran 734 inside for 3k. This was after he already had a 1254. So yeah we're talkin 810 range at least.
Yared Nuguse could get the AR tho. He has more footspeed.
Klecker has run 12:54-55, so he can beat Teg's time (still American record?) of 8:07. I would guess 8:03-4, similar to Mottram, who ran a bit faster at 5000m. Indoors, he was exhausted after his 12:54 and that might account for the 7:34 being a bit slower than expected.
Evans Kipchumba is almost certainly pacing. The question is who is the second pacer? Kyumbe Munguti would be very quaified (World XC Relay Champ, 3:34.0 PB today) but he might be a proper racer. Justin Kipkoech ran 13:22 on the roads, but given he’s only run 3:39 for 1500 in Kenya this season, hopefully they’ve just given Munguti a big payday to take them through 5018 in ~5 minutes. Either way, Klecker is no longer listed and the exciting racers behind Jakob will be Stewy, Chelimo and Kipkirui.
