No offense but this performance does not deserve an “MF” thread. “why is he not competing for the ducks this spring? I get redshirting cross, but he is a track guy.” If I would just read the thread, mono makes sense for a redshirt year.

All three senior sub-4 milers last year have run sub-3:40 now and according to tfrrs stats, they are the only American true freshmen straight out of high school to do so this year.
Last year, Sahlman ran 3:39/3:56, Martin 3:57, and Harrison 3:59.33, while in the 800m, they were 3-4-5 with 1:48.05 (Harrison), 1:48.07 (Sahlman), and Martin (1:48.59). This year Sahlman is at 1:46.99/3:38.30, Harrison at 3:38.8, and Martin at 1:47.74/3:39.53. With that 55.8 close, I expect Harrison will run 1:47 and improve on that 1500m. With Harrison finally racing outdoors, they are all proving that they were by no means peaked in high school, unlike a few hs sub-4 guys.
Among other freshmen, Specht, from Germany, dropped 9 seconds in the 1500m this year to 3:39.8, but he is 20; Harvard's Vivien Henz, from Luxembourg, is still just 18 but already ran 3:38 last year at 17 and so far is a second slower this year! BYU has freshmen James Corrigan at 3:38 and Caleb Johnson at 3:39, but those times are altitude-corrections and they were class of 2020. And UNC has Ethan Strand, a 4:01.52 miler in the high school class of 2021, at 3:38.13.
It seems anachronistic to have an indoor list and an "absolute" list. How long until they have one list, or even just an outdoor list and an absolute list?
He scored as many points for Oregon as everyone who posted in this thread. Times are cool but again this is the supershoe era so times are inflated. The MF is unnecessary for a guy who would be on Washington's C team 4 x Mile.

Those three from last year, Sahlman, Martin & Harrison, have all shown good 800 speed so that bodes well for them in sticking with the 1500. Of this year's crop, Birnbaum seems to be a 800/1500 guy as does Matsatsa. But Burns seems more like a 1500/3k/5k guy. Leo Young hasn't nailed a fast 800 and despite running consistently sub 3:40 he also seems like a 1500/3k/5k type. Lex is a 5k/10k guy as is Gorze. Not sure about Hansen and Heidesch.
