To be .17 short of a sub 4 is tough, but .17 short of sub 29 is brutal. Could've done something differently within those 25 laps to finish just 2 tenths quicker.
Great run, but man that gives me new appreciation for how good Chapa's record is.

Well, what happened was…
With about 1 1/2 miles to go, in a 250 meter stretch, he nearly stopped MULTIPLE times, wobbling to the left and nearly walking. It seemed like he was actually going to fall over, it was tough to watch whatever he was going through. Whatever that rough patch was, he fought through it and suddenly picked right back up like nothing ever happened.
It was crazy to watch! And, even with that, he set a huge PR, kudos to him!
He started vomiting everywhere. Idk how he even finished. Was craziest thing I've seen.
Number 3 all time high school 10,000? This young man is impressive. He is in the similar range as Galen Rupp from 1,500 to 10,000 in Oregon high school track.
This 10,000 is right up there with Chappa, McChessney, Rupp, and Lindgren. Some of the greatest American runners for their time period. Great to see.
Word is he had a coughing fit. My guess is choked on a fly or something - I've definitely had to walk a few steps and punch myself in the chest to get a fly out before so it makes sense if that was the case.
